Jody Huckaby has been the Executive Director of PFLAG National since February 2005. He has been a nonprofit executive for 20 years, having served as Executive Director of the Washington Humane Society in Washington, D.C.; New Mexico AIDS Services in Albuquerque; and the Bering/Omega Community Foundation in Houston. He served as a member of the board of directors of AIDS Action in D.C., and in that capacity he facilitated LGBT grassroots organizing and public policy development on HIV issues, housing, health care and research.

Jody holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Dallas and has done graduate work in theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Chicago. Jody brings a unique family perspective to the role of Executive Director of PFLAG because he is gay and has three gay siblings and four straight siblings.

In his capacity as Executive Director of PFLAG National, Jody speaks out on a number of issues relevant to PFLAG's mission, a few of which include family acceptance, employment non-discrimination, ending harassment and bullying in schools, hate crimes, adoption and foster care, the role of straight allies in advancing equality and creating culture and attitude change around sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.

Perhaps Jody's most visible opportunity to speak about PFLAG's mission was when he told his personal family story on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2007. He has appeared on MSNBC and CNN International and has been quoted in a wide range of publications, including The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Business Insurance, DiversityInc and Ladies Home Journal.
