Fox News Analyst Says Obama Should be Assassinated -- Take Action!

In a Sunday interview on Fox News, after deliberately referring to presidential candidate Barack Obama as "Osama," contributor Liz Trotta joked that both Osama Bin Laden and Barack Obama should be "knocked off" "if we could."

While there is some debate as to the intent of Hillary Clinton's comments on Robert F. Kennedy's assassination in June (I tend to give her the benefit of the doubt, though it was clearly a terrible and unfortunate allusion), no such ambiguity accompanies Trotta's statement.

You simply do not joke about the assassination of a United States Senator and probable Democratic presidential nominee. You also do not deliberately identify him with a terrorist who killed thousands of innocent Americans.

Liz Trotta must be fired immediately and held accountable for her despicable remarks. Here is the contact information for Fox News:

Someone cited the US Code here last night, and it is illegal to threaten any "serious" candidate for president, or anyone under Secret Service protection. However, wishful thinking (arguably) isn't a threat. Still, I'd like to see Trotta taken down to HQ for some serious interrogation. Make her hire a lawyer to make that argument. Show her some rough Gitmo style justice.

Hilary was probably thankful, are they friends? Yes, this is getting too weird. First, we unleash Hilary on unassuming uneducated Americans, and hold her up as a role model, which is untrue as far as I can find any data to back that up. I'm open to getting to the bottom of it, but as far as I can tell, she came in on her husband's coattails and started digging in. Has she done good things? I haven't found them. She hasn't really had time in NY, a position she obtained through propaganda, to prove herself, although she wasn't doing a bad job. As near as I can observe, Hillary has been the one willing to do the Clinton dirty work, she shouldn't really be in the forefront, it doesn't suit. Neither should this lady as she has no self control and her thoughts are too dark to be let out in a mainstream forum such as FOX News. I will definitely write in. Thanks for the information.

I don't see how this is any different than a death threat.

Liz Trotta is making jokes on national TV about assassinating a sitting US Senator and Presidential Candidate. If an ordinary citizen made this kind of "suggestion", the Secret Service could put them in jail.

Given the circumstances and the nature of the comment, the US Senate will likely have something to say about this. It appears that Murdoch just pissed in the whiskey jug. What a stupid move.

I really think Liz was joking. On the other hand, Hillary's comment was said more then once. Liz, was very upset with Hillary and called her under the carpet. Liz said Hillary needs to resign for her comment and this is not the first time she has said this. Liz laid into her. I would not try to get her fired. You have to listen to the entire piece.

I did listen to the clip. My point is that even joking about assassinating a sitting US Senator and Presidential Candidate could land a normal citizen in jail. It is just not something you joke about, especially on national television.

What makes this doubly curious is the point you make. Liz was indeed very vocal about how outrageous Hillary's RFK comments were. It does not make sense that she would even jokingly make a reference to that subject after her condemnation of Hillary for the same thing.

Sadly we are grossly underestimating the level of hatred that the rabid right have for people who hold beliefs even remotely different from their own. If a honest survey were taken, the 27% of the population which still supports Bush would likely find the comments amusing. Of that 27% probably 10% believe the same thing and up to 0.1% will think it is a coded message to act. Let’s hope that the security detail for Obama is up to the task, because it regrettably may have to be ready for anything.


As to the FCC I find it laughable that they think that a network showing a breast is something that should be heavily fined but someone joking about assassinating a Presidential candidate is not worth reviewing. It just goes to show how much the media is controlled by conservative business executives who are desperate to keep their tax cuts.
