Honest leadership matters. As you may know, there is a special election in Ohio on December 11th to decide who will represent a large portion of this key swing state in Congress. We have the opportunity to make sure that an honest and respectable community leader, Robin Weirauch, holds this seat--and ensure that the Republican Party doesn't have another vote to take away our rights, prolong a failed war and promote their agenda in Iran. Robin will hold Republican's accountable for engaging in personal attacks that endanger our national security and our reputation in the world.

Republicans know that this seat is in jeopardy, and they will stop at nothing to win. They are attacking our candidate, Robin Weirauch, distorting her stand on the issues and trying to distract voters from the war, job loss and the need for a real national security policy. I know what it is like to be attacked. In 2003, when I spoke out against the war in Iraq, I never imagined the White House would take revenge against me by compromising the national security of the country, not to mention the safety of my family by outing my wife's identity as a covert CIA officer. Unfortunately, Bob Latta and his Republican friends in Washington, DC are up to their old tricks. We have an obligation to oppose tactics like these and speak out for change.

In just four days, voters in Ohio cast their votes. But this election impacts all of us. Ohio is a key state in the 2008 presidential election. Helping Robin now will give our nominee another ally in a battleground state that could determine who controls the White House. I am supporting Robin because I know that she will stand up to the administration and speak out about the need for a new diplomatic agenda in our nation's capitol.

With your help, we can make sure that the Republicans in Washington continue to be held accountable for their actions. Robin will be an honest leader who will demand that our country and our Congress never again compromise national security for political or personal gain.

Help Robin by making a contribution to fund her GOTV efforts in the final days of this campaign. It matters to all of us!

I have one problem with your article, Mr. Wilson. Not one word about the upcoming election in '08 about the person who will replace Domenici.

You may consider it unfair of me to assert this, but either you or your wife must run for that office. If another person with the moral authority the two of you hold was available and willing to run I wouldn't make this argument.

Yes, you and your wife have sacrificed elements of your lives serving this nation, but unfair demands must be made of some because there is no one else available. If I may be so blunt: the Wall in Washington DC is inscribed with thousands of names of people on whom an unfair demand was made.

I am not certain whether either of you would define yourself as "liberal" in political thought but at least your motives and ethics can not be questioned.

Senator McConnell argued there's difference in the deaths of US soldiers in Iraq in that they are professionals, not draftees...Should New Mexico elect a McConnell clone?

One of you, do your duty.

The people in what is considered the "Rust Belt" have suffered enough under this administration. It should be a "Republicans Keep Out" zone.

They are slimming her something awful on the local stations. This morning as I got ready for work I saw two attack ads in the span of about 15 minutes on the same channel. They are trying to paint her as Pro-Big Tax (even for the DEATH TAX!! Gasp!) and somehow weak on terrorism (I guess she's pro-terror or some such crap). I have made my donation and hope that others will, too.
Unfortunately, I'm in a different district (Marcy Kaptur's 9th) so I can't cast a vote for her. Her opponent's family (Bob Latta) have been in local politics for a long time and they are as corrupt and ensconced as the Bush family, just on a smaller scale. I hope she can defeat him but she is really up against an established name in a rural, flag waiving, Bible thumping district. Republicans somehow still have the reputation of being more godly. Why that is escapes me completely. I wish her well.

I have seen these commercials for Latta - they are absolutely despicable. They have every cliche republican playbook tactic - smear and fear, god, gays and guns.

The distortion is blatantly obvious to all but those for whom it is directed. Sadly rank and file reps fall for this crap every time

How can you ensure honest leadership without honest elections? We are, after all, talking about Ohio here.
