Nonprofits would not exist without funding from corporations, foundations, donors, and other generous individuals and organizations. It takes a lot of energy and serious work to build great relationships with those that support the work we do. I'm happy to announce that the great people behind Good Magazine have teamed up with Pepsi to help them connect with nonprofits across the country who could use some extra cash to make their dreams come true. The program is called the Pepsi Refresh Project and goes live in the next few weeks. Those of us lucky enough to receive funding can do a heck of a lot of good with the kind of cash Pepsi is giving away--over a million dollars a month! I'm proud to say that 826LA received the very first award. Here's a video featuring yours truly with more info about the project:

Another great opportunity for nonprofits in Los Angeles is being put on by the folks behind Unique LA and Causecast. Here's a breakdown of the City Labs event:

CITY LABS is a dynamic one-day Community Service Fair that brings together over 50 local non-profit and community groups in one space, allowing the public to easily discover, connect and interact with them. Our mission is to attract 'the masses' in order to engage community, provide an outlet for education and awareness, and to increase community service. In just one day we hope to engage thousands of people and make it easy for them to "serve the city", resulting in thousands and thousands of donations and new volunteers - which in turn will build and strengthen the community. Fun and exciting, City Labs boasts activities for everyone including free workshops, "craft for a cause" area, café+lounge, DJs and more.
