Bringing together rock, folk, country, blues and R&B, John Mellencamp has sold more than 40 million albums and received 13 Grammy nominations over the course of his 35 year career. An advocate for the American farmer, he co-founded Farm Aid in 1985 with Willie Nelson and Neil Young. He is the recipient of the Huntington Disease Society of America’s 2003 Woody Guthrie Award for exemplifying the ideals of the legendary folksinger and in 2001 he was received Billboard's highest accolade, the Century Award for distinguished creative achievement. The ASCAP Foundation bestowed its Champion Award to him in 2007 in recognition of his outstanding use of music in the service of humanity. That same year, although he voiced his opposition to the war in Iraq numerous times, he demonstrated his support for our troops with a concert for wounded service people at Walter Reed Hospital. He performed his classic “Pink Houses” at the Lincoln Memorial at the “We Are One” pre-inaugural concert before an audience estimated at over 400,000 including then President-elect Obama and his family. John Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. His most recent album release is “Life Death Love and Freedom,” produced by T Bone Burnett.

Mellencamp and his wife, Elaine, live in Bloomington, Indiana, not far from Seymour, Indiana where he was born and raised.
