John Orloff is an acclaimed screenwriter who is skilled at creating and adapting complex stories in widely disparate genres, driven by strong central themes. Orloff recently wrote and executive produced “Anonymous,” a Tudor drama set against Shakespeare Authorship Question, with Roland Emmerich directing. Rhys Ifans stars as Edward de Vere, the Earl of Oxford, whose illicit romance with Queen Elizabeth (Vanessa Redgrave) and secret plays create scandalous political intrigue. The Sony film opens on October 28.

Orloff was nominated for an Emmy Award for his writing on HBO’s “Band of Brothers”, the acclaimed World War II mini-series produced by Steve Spielberg and Tom Hanks. He wrote the gripping episodes “Day of Days” and “Why We Fight.” Orloff’s script for Michael Winterbottom’s “A Mighty Heart,” based on the kidnapping of reporter Daniel Pearl, received wide critical praise and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for his screenplay. Manohla Dargis of The New York Times called the film “a surprising, insistently political work of commercial art.” Orloff also scripted the Zack Snyder-directed “Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.” Warner Bros. released the 3D animated feature based on the series of popular children's books by Kathryn Lasky in September 2010.

Orloff has a diverse line-up of projects currently in development including “How Starbucks Saved My Life” for director Gus Van Sant and producer/actor Tom Hanks. He is also developing an untitled project for director Roland Emmerich.
