Do They Really Want To Play The Mi-chelle Game?

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

"Obama's Baby Mama?" The pound she shared with her husband that was really a "terrorist fist jab?" When she thinks nobody's listening she loves to use the pejorative "whitey?" C'mon, do the Reactionary Regressives really want to shape the campaign on demonizing Barack Obama's wife Michelle?

They might as well take out a full page ad in the Weekly Standard announcing: EEH, WE GOT NOTHING

First off, demonizing the potential first lady; didn't they try that with Hillary Clinton? All that got them was eight years of Bill in the White House, and eventually Mrs. C as Senator from New York. Seriously, before the far Right Retro Guard gets too far down that road they might want to move on to Plan D.

Does the Right really want to go after a politician's wife? Remember what Dick Nixon was able to do with Pat's cloth coat. Stand back from the pillar of fire that's gonna rain from on high when Barack unleashes all his oratorical powers and smites the transgressors who dare...transgress the sanctity of his marriage.

Short of that, stand back when Michelle does Oprah and they get to crying and all the soccer moms recall repressed gender memories of how much they can't stand woman-bashing.

But to bring it all back home: Obama's Baby Mama? Somewhere, even Don Imus is shaking his head in disgust. Did no one at that Fox Chyron department know how to spell "Negress?" And I want to be very careful here not to denigrate "baby mamas." I'm not getting bent over how other people form their relationships. But what galls is the idea that to them -- to them -- married, single, with children or without all back women are the same and good for one thing: no more consideration than black women have gotten from Tom Jefferson through Strom Thurmond and right up to the aforementioned Imus.

And you think the Right would have learned something from the Imus affair. You think they would have learned what it looks like when the wagons circle and indignation -- be it righteous or faux pious -- rises up.

Clearly they have not.

So, keep on, I say, playing your Mi-chelle game. Keep on demonstrating that you've got nothing to say about the economy or the dollar or an energy policy. Health care or immigration. The war, National Security. Keep on putting into full effect that you are bereft of any idea that is any deeper than flicking a finger at a man's Mrs.

"Obama's Baby Mama?" The pound she shared with her husband that was really a "terrorist fist jab?" When she thinks nobody's listening she loves to use the pejorative "whitey?" C'mon, do the Reactio...

Michelle is going to be the BEST and certainly THE SMARTEST first lady that this country has ever had.
It's going to be a terrific eight years.

Michelle is the wind behind Sen. Obamas sails !!
She is inspiring and down to earth !
Michelle Obama is a blessing to this Great Nation as is Sen. Obama.
I really believe as this election process goes along the Obamas are going to be viewed for their honesty and caring.

Exactly right! Any feminists grieving over Hillary should refocus their support on Michelle, a much more accomplished woman than Hillary was at her age. And Michelle did it on her own all the way. Anyway, let's hear some feminist outrage over the treatment of Michelle now.

"And you think the Right would have learned something from the Imus affair. "

The right never learns, except how to reframe their limited and destructive agenda. "Reframing" being their survival instinct only, not an instinct to better themselves.

THEY DON'T CARE. Conservatism is mental illness. It's a sociopath's mental state on a mass scale.

Asking if the right "learned" anything from one of its ongoing transgressions reminds me of the old adage: "Wish in one hand, shit in the other. See which one fills up first." You might as well wish global warming would just go away. Or that you made 100 times as much money. Or that oil was cheaper than water again.

Asking if conservatives learned anything is *wishing* that conservatism has the potential to act on anything beyond its base ideology. It doesn't.

Michelle Obama has more going on than the past 5 (maybe 10) Republican first ladies put together. What a delight she will be in the White House.

Amazing how quickly you come to the defense of a politician's wife... but Hillary took a beating all through the Clinton years and during her campaign... That's okay to most of the people posting here, it seems.

Who says that we did not come to her defense when she "took a beating" as First Lady? And any "beating" she took during the primary campaign was because SHE WAS THE CANDIDATE. Didn't she say more than once, "If you can't stand the heat..." And didn't her husband say something like "saddle up..." Plus, I don't recall any false smears about Hillary during her campaign. Has she ever been called "Bill's baby mama?" Was any of her gestures with her husband interpreted as "terriorist fist jabs?" You are trying to compare apples and oranges.

During Bill Clinton's scrutinization over a blue dress and a white lie I do not remember the media adding to Mrs. Clinton's ordeal. It is true that much of the media turned on her this season, after foolishly crowning her the nominee a year ago. But this time she is not a politician;s wife-- she is a politician.
That is the difference.

I know you and she would not agree but it's not always about Hillary. You're not suggesting Hillary Clinton received absolutely no support from Democrats when Bill was in the White House? Your narrative needs to keep Senator Clinton a victum, which I'm sure she loves. She ran a bad campaign, period. By the time she figured it out it was too late. The good news is she has more time to spend fighting for hard working "white" Americans. Don't vote for Obama. Stay home, cry in your beer and feel sorry for yourself. Just don't try to equate everything with Hillary Clinton. It's old and tired and unproductive. Move on.

Put an end to it. Ask Cindy McCain whether it's proper to go after a candidate's spouse. What she gonna say?

They've started the indirect racial attacks with code words and phrases. They don't have the CJ's to do it direct.
Don't get worked-up about it, there's more comming; specially when he wins.
Learn to laugh about it and to enjoy their despair; it's all they've got left, POBRECITOS.

The Obama's did everything that the right says black people don't do. They made education a priority, and excelled. They got married in the church. They had beautiful children, that they are raising right. They worked hard, succeeded in their careers. They gave back to the community. They live with kindness and grace.

But is is never enough. They are picked apart by people from a party that only cares about themselves and people exactly like them. So sad.

November will bring change we will be so proud of. I can't wait!

Of course attacking Michelle is not smart, but you can bet they will do it. He's right they have nothing, but the Michelle attack is the closest thing to anything that will resonate, short of a terrorist attack or national disaster.

A fair and balanced fight between Michelle and Cindy would be fine, but will never happen. If they become fair game, Michelle will get the worse of the deal as the MSM will "protect" Cindy. Exhibit #1 Compare the Rev. Wright coverage to Hagee/Robertson/Falwell. They will NEVER hit Cindy like they will Michelle and they will ALWAYS have justification.

Sadly, the Republicans know that "race" will trump sexism, so they'll take their lumps and bank on a net gain by bashing Michelle with a few hits from a women's' group or two. There is no doubt - it's already started. They have mo shame.

Yes, I noticed on coverage of the Michele rumors last night (i'm pretty sure it was msnbc, but they're all the same except Keith) the supposedly balanced story mentioned the details all of the rumors about Michele but didn't specifically say ANY of the rumors (negative facts, actually) about Cindy, although they showed both women.

We're watching you, msm.

Roland Martin on CNN was able to slip in a reference to Cindy's drug problem before Campbell Brown changed the subject...

Some of those on the right are consumed by hatred and their dirty little tricks are going to come back and bite them in the behind. FOX news and people like Michelle Malkin have brought the national discourse to such a low level that they believe they can get away with anything and everything. I can't imagine such things being said about Mamie Eisenhower, Jacqueline Kennedy or Laura Bush, so I wonder why it is permissible to behave this way towards Michelle Obama? It is disrespectful, low, vile behavior and no one should be making excuses for the inexcusable.

Wow, I am shocked that the Republicans are going after the Democratic nominee's wife! Shocked! Why this has never happened before! Please. The naivette is laughable.

This is standard operating procedure for the Republicans and it is just the beginning. The Obama fanatics were complaining about how evil the Clinton's were in their supposed "attacks" on Obama. Well, they haven't seen anything yet.

Michelle Obama will get the same treatment that Kitty Dukakis got, that Mrs. Clinton got, That Mrs. Gore got and that Mrs. Kerry got. By the end of the campaign, most voters will think the second Mrs. McCain is God's gift and Michelle Obama is a black, communist agent.

The Republicans do this for two reasons: They are pathetic, twisted fanatics and it always works on the sheeple.

If the candidate's spouse speaks out in behalf of the candidate, in behalf of the candidates proposals, programs, goals etc. then the spouse is fair game for criticism, in terms of those ISSUES, NOT in terms of the spouse's hue, ethnicity, background, upbringing, grades they got in school, where they spent their summer vacations, what their favorite color is, etc.
