I served as an appointed member of the Minnesota legislature's Single-Payer Working Group in 2007 and was lead author of its Final Report. I advocate a single-payer/universal system. I testify frequently at the legislature, speak to groups, write, and provide analysis and research for various parties. I was a volunteer, outside health policy advisor to (former) state senator Becky Lourey's (DFL) gubernatorial campaign in 2006. I worked in banking and finance for 11 years.

There is a firestorm going on currently regarding John McCain's health policy platform as it relates to deregulation. The Annenberg Political Fact Center at the University of Pennsylvania is claiming that the Barack Obama campaign is taking McCain's position and statements out of context portraying inaccurately his proposal and intentions.
