John Scripsick was born in Nashville, Kansas on October 19,1951 to Leo and Mary Scripsick. His father was a WWII veteran and farmer from Sharon, Kansas. He attended high school at Sharon High, went two years to Pratt Junior College in Kansas and three years to Truman University in Crooksville, MO. John married Jan McNalley in 1974. They had two sons, Bryan and Brett. Scripsick started farming from scratch while working in construction for over 20 years before becoming a full time cattle rancher and farmer in Wayne, OK.

A Purple Heart for Christmas

I'm glad the United States is bringing America's sons and daughters, our troops, home from Iraq before Christmas.

My son Bryan died in Iraq, in a town named Albu Hyatt, north of Bagdad, Sept. 6, 2007.

He and 3 others died, but 40 to 50 troops behind them lived.
