Thank God for the Christian Right, and the fiery fortitude that fuels its furious ferreting out of the ever-wily ways of the enemy.
Guess who God's new avowed enemy is?
No, not the gays. Pfft. C'mon. The gay issue is so 2010.
Now our heroes in the crusading vanguard of the Christian right have in the focus of their eagle eye the soul-destroying cult of environmentalism.
Recycling is for the damned, brothers and sisters! Fuel-efficient cars are the devil's work! The only alternative energy sources environmentalists are really interested in are the fires of hell!
Oh, you question this? Really? So the devil already has you grasped in his slimy green talons, has he? Well, it's not too late! If you are so shamefully unfamiliar with God's will that you doubt environmentalism is "one of the greatest threats to society and the church today," then go right now to the website Resisting the Green Dragon. There you will find the fruits of the labors of "some of the top Christian leaders and scholars in America," who have selflessly given of themselves, so that you might be able to purchase from them, for the special, 10 percent-off, pre-order price of only $71.90, the 12-part DVD series, Resisting the Green Dragon, "A Biblical Response to One of the Greatest Deceptions of Our Day."
Yes, it takes a long while to realize it's really only four DVDs. But it's 12 half-hour lessons that you can use in your church's Sunday school classes, adult-education classes, Bible classes and small group meetings. That's the point. And it comes with a 30-minute bonus documentary! And a book that's sure to contain a great many complete sentences. If that whole eye-opening package isn't worth $71.90 plus shipping and handling, then I'm a monkey's uncle. (Which I'm not -- and never was, or could ever be.)
The video below will show you what Resisting the Green Dragon is all about. (Take particular note, during the video's heart-poundingly frightful opening, of the image of the Soviet sickle and hammer, fleetingly shown at the end of the intoning voice-over's "... environmentalism is striving to put America, and the world, under its destructive control." Hit the pause button at 0:09, and the truth will be revealed to you: that's no hammer inside that sickle! It's the propeller of a wind-powered electrical generator! Why, if that's not further proof that Obama is a socialist, I don't know what is.)
Remember, friends: If you don't think environmentalists are in a Satanic cult seeking to undermine everything that good Americans hold dear, then you're just not thinking at all.

All I'm saying is if I had to sift through the 1,000's of religions in this world and try to choose which one was "divine"; Christianity's not looking too good. It's about as attractive as the Islamic faith.
Buddhism, Taoism, and many other eastern religions have far less blood on their hands.
Though this is a little off subject. The other part - the majority of the environmental movement (and what they are referring to in the video) is not pagans, but citizens around the world becoming worried about the earth that sustains us to be wiped out and destroyed - thus ending the human race. That is a very real threat and twice in history (WW2 when we raced the Germans to developing the atomic weapon), again with the Cuban missile crisis, and again with the cold war - extinction is always looking at us in the face.
There is no greater act of love-and-respect for the "Creator" than to see---and value---our essential Oneness THROUGH the Creation. That is what St. Francis of Assissi was referring to by "Seeing the Creator in the Creation".
Environmentalists value nature because they don't see a dead, lifeless Universe that has been reduced to an idea or concept (a mental idol). They see a universe what we humans are intimately connected to...and which we are inextricable part. In caring for that universe...they also care for themselves and their fellow human beings.
In cariing for that univerese...they care for that Mystery that weaves us into that Process....and therfore that Mystery that embodies or is responsible FOR that Process.
No matter what name you happen to call that Mystery.
The only way that environmentalism (and Evolution for that matter) is at odds with traditional Christianity it denies human beings a "special" and "seperate" place apart from Nature. A notion that (frankly) makes about as much sense as considering one's self "special" and "seperate" from one's own heart and lungs.
and really get to know on a first name basis all sorts
of unsavory characters. I'll bet golfing with Satan on
Sunday morning is a whole new experience, complete
with 'insider information' on all our affairs!
Remember who you are: A part "of" nature - not a part "from" it.
Feel nature speaking to your soul.
Fall in love with that which gives you life.
Reconnect with your own magnificence as a co-creator of life.
And that my friends, is EXACTLY what they are afraid of.
Oh by the way, he did appoint us to be stewards of the earth.
And I've wondered how Jesus would feel if he were alive and on this earth. I'm not saying he would likely side with either "party" but giving food to the poor with no strings attached was kind of his thing.
If for the God creating our planet and nature. I'm sure a parent expects his children to be respectful to their gifts.
The smart (and ruthless) exploit the both the foolish and the unsophisticated.
Such is a world driven by the desire for power, rather than by principle. Imo, Jesus would see a society very much like the one that crucified Him 2000 years ago....and I believe His reaction to it would have been the same.
Especially for those who would use religion as a way to gain-and-hold worldly wealth and power.
Wingnut fundamentalists hate environmentalism and sustainable policies because they absolutely live for the end of the world, coming to a theater near you! And the sooner the better.
Blatant propaganda is exactly what they wanted, and exactly what was needed to fuel the followers into a foaming at the mouth frenzy.
Responsible stewardship of the earth's resources will insure that the people of the world will have needs met. How does stripping the top off a mountain to get coal help the people who live in the region when it destroys the land they farm and pollutes their drinking water? How do the chemicals poaring out of the chimneys of numerous industrial complexes improve the life of those with respiratory problems? The "dragon lady" and her companions don't know what they are talking about.
I mean, seriously, 2,476,636 homicides to 10, and Satans the one with Kryptonite resume? ( h/t to Drunk With Blood, by Steve Wells). Think of the marketing campaign that The Loving God, Inc. has had to wage in order to pull that one off!
So, anyway, I know a great med-spa where he can get those horns filed down, a tail tuck, lose the goatee and scepter, then complete the makeover with some earthy spray tanning and voila !... nemesis no more!
