GET UPDATES FROM John Willey

John is a stay at home dad after working 10 years full time as a television News Photographer in NYC. His wife works in advertising which afforded them the opportunity for him to stay home and help raise their two sons Tyler and Carter. Every day is an adventure as he just doesn't know what two little boys are going to hit him with next; most of the time it's Legos. Sometimes he's a cook, a landscaper, a coach, a handyman or even a doctor; although not officially trained, he has been able to diagnose his fair share of belly problems. Through it all though, he is most importantly a dad. He might not get all the attention from them -- they are most definitely mama's boys -- but he is there when they need him. I Am NOT Special

I am not anything special.

If you were to look at the parenting hierarchy right now, stay-at-home dads (SAHDs) are at the top of the list. It seems to be all that anyone is talking about anymore. It's as if we are the first people on Earth that are doing...

Does Dad Drink Too Much?

(6) Comments | Posted January 24, 2013 | 9:36 AM

It's not something that I ever really thought about while my kids were younger. I could have a beer and not think twice about it, because they didn't know what I was drinking. For all they knew, it was water. But it wasn't, and now they know what it is.

Dear Soccer Dad,

I hope you are enjoying seeing little Billy run around the field with his little soccer ball. I noticed one thing, though; you seem to have a lot to say, whether it's to me, the other...

Stripping Off the Stay at Home Dad Label

(5) Comments | Posted March 1, 2012 | 5:20 PM

I've decided to unclassify myself as a stay home dad. I've grown tired of the label -- in fact I've grown tired of labels all together. I've been at the job for a little over a year and a half and I can honestly say that the term Stay at...

Every now and then I get sucked into these online arguments over a woman's right to breastfeed in public. It really amazes me that in this day and age this is an issue. I don't understand how people could be so closed-minded about this, it's a woman feeding her child,...
