From Royal Wedding to SNL: Live (on Tape) from New York, It's Ellie Goulding

Best. Week. Ever. Last Friday, Ellie Goulding performed Elton John's "Your Song" at the Royal Wedding. This week, she was the musical guest with host Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live. I think it's safe to say we can nix "buzzworthy emerging star" before any reference of her name from here on out. The 24 year old is a sure-fire one. After slaying her homeland (her debut album Lights debuted at number one, and she's a mainstay at the BRIT Awards), Goulding -- far more attractive, by the way, than similarly sounding star Elliot Gould -- has already begun crossing over to the states with her Bjork, Kate Nash and Lykke Li hybrid sound. She recently finished up a sold out U.S. headline tour, played SXSW and Coachella, and will head to Chicago this summer to do a Lollapalooza set.

On Friday, May 6, a day before she'd make her biggest U.S. television performance to date, I caught up with Goulding in Manhattan and asked her about her success, performing in front of Prince William and Kate, and whether she had nerves about performing on SNL ("I'm trying not to think about it. I know it's a big deal," she said). Watch on...
