Watch the now infamous Romney tapes, starting at the 4 minute mark. A questioner asks him about foreign policy and they start to talk about the hostage crisis in 1980. Then Romney drops this nugget:
"And yet, in that election, in the Jimmy Carter election, the fact that we had hostages in Iran, I mean, that was all we talked about. And we had the two helicopters crash in the desert, I mean, that was the focus, and so him [Reagan] solving that made all the difference in the world. I'm afraid today that if you simply got Iran to agree to stand down on nuclear weapons, they'd go, "Now hold on. It's really a-" I mean, if something of that nature presents itself I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity."
I'm sorry, what? If there's an international crisis where Americans die and/or hostages are taken, you'll "work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity?"
I might not believe that's what Mitt Romney meant by this statement, if it wasn't exactly what he did down the road, when he immediately tried to politically capitalize on the attacks on our diplomatic outposts, before we even knew who had died.
I know many people have been dismayed over Governor Romney's comments about the mythical 47 percent who don't pay taxes and mooch off the government, but, to me, this is so much worse.
It shows that the political aspirations and ego of Mitt Romney have no limits - not even national security or American lives are spared. As Commander in Chief, with the military under his control and his finger on the button, what other "opportunities" would he "find a way to take advantage of?"
I shudder to think.

Allowing these individuals to take the reins of our government would be akin to letting the Visigoths sack Rome. The stakes could not be higher.
Why would we want a "leader" who has contempt for 99% of the people he would be responsible to govern?
Obama is an amateur promoted so far over his talent level that it is breath-taking. He has failed at nearly everything he has attempted, other than the problematic health care bill, and now he is running for re-election with unemployment numbers that he himself said would mean he would be a one term president. His dreams from his father will cripple our economy if we don't vote him out. He and his wife actually were never proud of America until America voted him into the White House. Is that a bit self centered?
Obama had two years of the Dems owning the house and the senate, and all he has to show is a fundamentally flawed health care bill. Obama is hurting the American dream. Every day he is in the White House is a day that will not lead to a recovery.
"I mean, if something of that nature presents itself I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity."
We saw how he responded on Sept 11, 2012. He did exactly what h had already premeditated in his heart.
Romney never thought this statement would see the light of day, but it is so revealing of his character ~ or lack of one. He is unworthy of even the shortened title or anagram POTUS.
OBAMA is going to wipe his Romney with some Ryan before flushing twice-LOL
DILLIGAF
Romney is scary. I kept thinking of the "Wannsee Conference" or, how to we take divide Europe.
He's not presidential material.
Would Romney consider selling the "Federalist Papers?"
What would he sell to make a buck?

As far as that drug user sitting on the couch getting stoned - why is it that you would condone all the corporate welfare going on? They take more money from the government than any of the poor.
As for the rest, it's just unbelievable. Not only does he not understand the tax issue, he's offensive in his misleading take on the situation.
I agree with the commenter that mentioned off-shore tax havens while being the commander-in-chief. That's something to think about. One I hadn't thought of.
"the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior".
If he did it with Libya (seek political gain from misfortune) I'm sure he'll do WHENEVER it
suits him in the future; with NO reservations -- what-s0-ever..!
Mitt Romney may have paid over 3 million in taxes (trust him???) but it is a pittance for what he made....There is a difference between someone paying 25% while making $100,000 a year & someone who is taxed at 35% but only effectively ends up paying 10-15% while making $10,000,000 a year, When you hide your money so that you effectively don't pay taxes on it - when you outsource jobs YOU aren't exactly investing in America....but then you want people to vote you into the highest office of the land??? Mind boggling.
