Say It To His Face, Rush

Today, VoteVets.org is releasing this ad, which will air on FOX News and CNN, starting tomorrow. A similar version will be on Rush Limbaugh's radio show in Washington, D.C. and his home market of West Palm Beach. And, at the same time, Senator Harry Reid is leading the charge on the Hill, challenging Rush host Clear Channel to do something about his disgraceful comments.

I don't think I need to say anything more than that. This ad speaks for itself. Please help VoteVets.org keep up the fight. And chime in with what you think in the comments below.

Very powerful ad. I hope this ad runs in as many places as possible. Republicans and others who support this war need to hear why it is a mistake and it is best that they hear it from people who have really served in Iraq.

It is good to know that many servicemen are speaking out against the war and hopefully their voices will drown out the hot air served up by Rush Limbaugh, who doesn't really know what it is like to serve the country.

We are talking about Rush here: A man who consistently condemns rehab and social programs as part of the "weak on crime liberal agenda" only to jump into a rehab center - for a whole month - the moment he was caught abusing drugs. Riddle me that one, cons.

On the contrary. A democrat must never say anything that can be misrepresented. Kerry's joke was clearly about Bush and not the troops. the moveon ad did NOT criticize any troops but only the general and only asked if he would betrayus. Democrats must be careful in every utterance or Limabaugh will spend his 15 hours a week taking it out of the contest and arguing from it ad nauseum. Limbaugh has said worse things which are forgotten and usually he gets away with most any argument because there is no equivalent voice on the other side to spend 15 hours a week on a powerful syndicate of stationstelling people how much of a sef serving asshole he is.

If Limbaugh's intent was to call out that one phoney soldier, he would have done so. Instead, he used the plural form and got caught doing so. Pure and simple.

The man has absolutely no honor whatsoever to admit "I made a mistake" but what's worse...wh­y should he if that's how he truly thinks...w­hich it is. Ask him about soldiers from Iraq (or any soldier for that matter) who is against the war and he won't have anything complimentary to say.

U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan today announced some of the results of "Operation Stolen Valor," a year long effort to investigate and prosecute those who lie about their military service for financial gain or other reasons.

I've read the transcripts and it is clear that when Limbaugh made his "phony soldiers" reference it was directed at Jesse Macbeth and his ilk, people who falsely claimed to serve in the Middle East and lied about the actions of our troops there. It's an apt description, I would say, since U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sullivan himself referred to Macbeth and the other's who joined him in his efforts as "phony war heroes."

Even John Kerry had a better story than Macbeth.

If that is clear then you have a cognitive problem. That statement would be true only if he had not said the other things he did say. And then you disparage Kerry too. Proves the point. smear the troops and veterans who disagree with you. The last resort of a faction that has no legitimate arguments.

Who among this whole crowd of blowhards has ever apologized for anything? Rush? Coulter? Kristol? Hannity?

Outrage among the public just send them into greater heights of self-rightous pomposity.

And their fans lap it up because they just portray it all as the mainstream media being against them.

The only thing that will stop it is if advertizers become embarrased to be associated with his show. That is what finally worked with that awvull OJ Simpson interview show.

Advertizers just work on a cost-per listener mode. If the show does not pull in enough listeners then that might affect revenues, but not stop them.

If instead you get a situation where for every listener they reach on the show two are turned off from the company because of their association with it then things will dry up fast.

Another thing to realize is that Rush is 'paid' for his show, like most syndicators, by having a certain number of the spots be his to sell and the remainder be the stations.

If you can't sell a war with all the classified info that you could make up, you couldn't sell a Mercedes in Qatar. The bad news is, they own the dealership and hold the mortgage on the Constitution. The only thing Clear Channel understands is an advertiser revolt. Imus would still be on the air if his advertisers hadn't bailed on him. Boycotting Clear Channels' advertisers is really the only way they'll get rid of him. And unfortunately, all this noise is actually helping him. If he's ignored, and his advertisers' sales drop, then he's toast. Might not happen in my lifetime, though.

I would like to see a creative person do a picture of a terrible and bloody war scene, some dead soldiers, some wounded, some dying. Those alive courageously fighting back. Then superimpose the faces of all the chicken hawks, Chenny, Kristol, Limbaugh, Wolfowitz, et. al. who never served, let alone ever fought, in war. They would probably be honored but the rest of us would see the stupidity of their "let's give them hell" while not actually going to hell themselves.

The Dem caucus should rise up and replace the current Dem leadership for trivializing their duties. The Dem leadership is entrenched, jaded, and perform no better than the Repub leadership before them. Time to clean house in BOTH parties!!
