In less than 24 hours, a late entry called Quail Hunting with Dick Cheney rocketed to the top of the Contagious Festival standings. The project is spreading on blogs, getting linked on popular humor sites, and was recently featured on CNN. The quail hunt game is really funny but it is doing so well because everyone is talking about the Cheney shooting. It is very exciting to see the Festival being used for rapid, satirical responses to breaking news. And as the Cheney story continues to unfold, there is an opportunity to create successful new Contagious Festival entries. In fact, Cheney will be on Fox News tonight at 6pm which could provide excellent source material for a creative new project. If you want to jump in the fray, you can still enter the February contest:
In March, the Festival will feature an entirely new group of entries, but you can sign up and start working on your March entry now. You might want to try to create something timeless like the Numa Numa Dance, plan a project that relates to a foreseeable March news event like the Oscars, or wait to respond to an unexpected event like the Vice President shooting a 78-year old man. Good luck!
