Bill Mauldin Stamp

What's Your Reaction:

Bill Mauldin, the great cartoonist of WWII and many points beyond, finally lands on a stamp. Well, they never could lick him when he was alive....

Thanks for posting this. My grandad joined the Army in '42 and served in both the ETO and PTO. One of his favorite possessions was his copy of Up Front. Pop thought Bill Mauldin told it like it was.I have it now and it is one of my prized possessions.

We had UP FRONT and BACK HOME in the bookshelf when I was growing up. Bill Mauldin was one of the cartoonists I most tried to imitate when I was learning to draw. I met him when I moved to Santa Fe, and we became friends. A huge talent, and a good man.

He always had a feel for the concerns of the common man. A good guy.

I used to know one of his granddaughters, I think is a great honor for her and her family. Congradulations.
