These are rocky days for freedom of religion. It's getting to be as tough to build a mosque here as to put up a church in Saudi Arabia. But with all the finger-pointing over Muslim terrorism and violence, it's as well to remember, in a world of Tim McVeigh and doctor assassinations and the Iraq War and sectarian violence, that few religions have entirely clean skirts.
