Our expectations were lowered not only by our legislators
but by our population's inability to stand up and speak on
our own behalf. THAT has changed. And THAT is both promising
and good.

People who think nothing has changed in the health care reform bill have not ...
- lost a job and with their health coverage
- been unable to get new coverage because of a pre-existing condition
- been unable to pay monthly premiums for individual health coverage for themselves and their children while still having enough money left over each month to pay rent or mortgage and eat
- almost got a job offer but lost it because an insurance company told the employer you're a bad risk and if hired, everyone's premiums will go up (I quit a consulting job where I had to train people how to cherry pick and diplomatically threaten employers)
- suffered preventable or heal-able illnesses because of any or all of the above
- watched a loved one die unnecessarily because of any or all of the above

The new health bill is far from perfect but it does address the above.

Couldn't agree more!
Ah, the land of fear-inducing rhetoric, supported by the lowered expectations derived through . . . (ironically) . . . weakened spines.
We have done little but change the fabric for that man behind the curtain.

He have a reinforcement of the same failed, private, for-profit system we've had for ages. Let's stop pretending this is reform.
