Palin in Debate Still Gets Global Warming Backwards and Repeats Big Energy Lie Twice

Palin had told Katie Couric "I'm not going to solely blame all of man's activities on changes in climate."

The debate transcript reveals she still can't get her talking points straight on this issue:

I'm not one to attribute every man -- activity of man to the changes in the climate. There is something to be said also for man's activities, but also for the cyclical temperature changes on our planet.

It's "attribute changes in the climate to activity of man"!

And, of course she repeated the The Big Energy Lie that John McCain actually believes in an "all of the above" energy policy -- twice:

John McCain is right there with an "all of the above" approach to deal with climate change impacts....

So even in dealing with climate change, it's all the more reason that we have an "all of the above" approach,

In order to have an "all of the above" approach, McCain would have to be a supporter of renewable energy like wind and solar rather than one of the strongest Senate opponents of renewable energy with a voting record on energy that matches that of global warming denier Sen. Palin actually claimed that natural gas is "GREEN" which is insane. This woman needs her head examined. Natural gas is a fossil fuel and the burning of it emits C02 and it is anything but GREEN. It's not even clean. It's a pollutor, like gas.

Seriously, this disqualifies her from being a public official. She's just outright dishonest and if she believes this, she's stupid.

Natural gas, while still a hydrocarbon, does burn much cleaner (CO2 and H2O being the only byproducts) than gasoline or diesel; from the respect of particulate (smog) emissions, natural gas is certainly "greener" than gas or diesel.

There is also the oft repeated statement that Palin understands the severity of global warming more than others because she is from Alaska; the only artic state in the union and the state most impacted by global warming.

Hello? Has she not heard of hurricane Katrina? Was she unaware of hurricanes Gustav and Ike? I fail to see how, at least for now, the immediate impact of global warming is greater in Alaska than in the Gulf States.

Bidan should have called her on this.

Hurricanes (Camille, Andrew, just to think of a few) certainly happened in the gulf states before the "global warming" hysteria. Of course, people also accepted that living in the gulf region involves hurricanes and didn't ask for a huge federal rescue every time a hurricane hit.

Actually that is not true. There is some evidence that temperatures have risen and a theory that man made gases are a result. But there is no evidence to proove the link and it appears that global temps have been declining for the last five years.

She keeps stating "lets not worry about the cause, lets worry about what to do about it". How do we "do something about it" if we can't even acknowledge the cause? If Palin really believes it is just cyclical, than there is nothing to be done.

As for "clean green natural gas", I must sadly point out that while methane doesn't produce many particulates, and T Boone Pickens might (for all I know) be right about its potential for running your car, burning methane still produces just as much carbon dioxide as Alaskan oil or other oil. Maybe it should be called "clean greenhouse natural gas"?

Burning natural gas certainly does generate carbon dioxide. However, due to its higher hydrogen content it produces 30% less CO2 than oil for each unit of heat that is generated.

McCain/Palin's statements that they alledgedly support alternative/green sources of energy is
1) total hypocracy
2) McCain's knowledge of these green technologies is abysmal. Given Palin's undisputable support only of oil and gas drill-baby-drilling and her proclivity to shallow, glib rightwing clichés it would be highly unlikely she understood the green technologies any better than McCain.
Why isn't this video taken up by Obama/Biden to obliterate McCain on his pseudo support of green energy development? I live in the Netherlands where the Dutch have been effectively using these "new" technologies for hundreds of years. There are graceful individual and windturbine farms all across the country, as well as all across Europe. I can see them from my window.

John McCain, it's time for another reality check. Do not tell me that the green technologies do not work. Your closed-mind does not work.

I'm glad someone noticed that Palin got her subjects and objects mixed up in her statement on global warming, in both the Couric interview and here. This kind of thing goes right by the average hockey mom, I guess. She's just got words and phrases in her head and it doesn't matter which side of the verb they're on. Global Warming isn't dependent on whether anyone is right, left or anything else, it is based on scientific observation and analysis of statistical trends. Maybe you should do some research on what science is, and the science that supports the observations of global warming.
