In an economy that is still working to rebound, every dollar counts. This is especially true when traveling and, as one of the most exciting destinations, Vegas has something for everyone.
During a recent stay in Las Vegas, I decided to give the Palms Casino Resort a try. Less than a mile off the main strip and definitely walkable, this is not a new destination for me, but I had only ever enjoyed the Palms' Rain Nightclub, Moon Nightclub and Ghostbar while staying elsewhere.
Because The Palms is dedicated to staying relevant, it is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation. I admit I was hesitant to stay at a resort in transition, but the management and staff made my stay effortless and did not hide the fact that this was a work in progress.
The Casino is fully up and running with an array of choices including the Cantor Poker Room, Cantor Race & Sports Book, along with the Drift Spa and Fitness Center and the Palms Cardio Center. The Fitness Center is equipped with free weights and a nominal fee ($15), but the Cardio Center is free and has a wide range of the newest machines to keep you in tiptop shape as you head back to the Casino.
With Alize for gourmet French dining, N9NE Steakhouse a sizzling contemporary steakhouse, Little Buddha hosting Asian cuisine with a touch of French flair, Nove Italiano, Simone Restaurant and Lounge, Bistro Buffet, 24 Seven Café, Fortunes and my personal favorite, Chocolat, a bistro, creperie and cremerie that was well worth the hour on the treadmill post pig out, the property still boasts a full range of culinary options despite the renovation.
The renovation also hasn't overly affected the rooms, as my ultra-chic newly renovated suite was top of the line. The vibrant artwork, colored furniture and newly redone bathroom offered more than ample space to rest while I stayed connected via the complimentary high-speed Internet.
An unexpected surprise that might not be for everyone, but certainly worked for me, was the on-site spray tanning. In my world, sunless tanning reigns supreme and at the end of a long day and long list of A-List amenities my stay at the Palms was seamless.
