Question #2: Who Is Your Favorite Jewish Mother?

Of course my favorite Jewish mother has to be Barbra Streisand, because after all, she's pretty much every Jewish girl's favorite Jewess, period. But when I really think about it, I don't really think about her in the context of being a mother. I think of her as the misfit meiskeit whose incredible talent made her the most beautiful, successful girl in the world. Now that we have some Jewish mothers 'coming out of the closet,' I have lots more to choose from. Take Madeline Albright, for example, who recently 'found out' she was Jewish (uh huh), or Katie Couric who is supposedly a Jewish mother - well at least according to some websites, or even Pink (okay, she has no kids, but can you believe she's part Jew?!?!). I like different Jewish mothers for different reasons. Like Joan Rivers - she's funny, she takes good care of her daughter, she's self-effacing, she works her butt off and she's a genuinely nice person. Or perhaps, Bette Midler - she's an icon, she's philanthropic, her daughter looks exactly like her, she's a great person and a huge talent. There's Lauren Bacall, Barbara Walters, Anne Meara (convert). And of course there are the policitians, - Barbara Boxer & Diane Feinstein. But then there are those that are kind-of famous, or almost famous, and that's my pick. My favorite famous Jewish Mother is someone who most people wouldn't know by looking at her or hearing her name, but she is talked about on TV, in the newspapers, and on stages all over the country. She's definitely my favorite Jewish Mother of all time, and I'm doing all I can to make her famous. Her name? Ruth Gold.
