Judy Platt is Director of Communications and Public Affairs and Director of Freedom to Read for the Association of American Publishers, the national trade organization of the U.S. book publishing industry. She directs the work of the Association’s Freedom to Read Committee, a publishing industry advisory body that serves as watchdog and advocate on issues pertaining to intellectual freedom and the First Amendment. She has served as a member of the Board of Trustees and two terms as President of the Freedom to Read Foundation, the First Amendment legal defense arm of the American Library Association. She is a member of the Board of Media Coalition, which defends the First Amendment rights of the business community.
