The only way to stop teenage delinquency is to set limits on the teen in question. Parents and law enforcement agencies must intervene with a hands on approach, swiftly and with strength.
It is clear to more and more Americans that our President is a delinquent, is a man psychologically unchanged from his early days of heavy drinking, of torturing animals as well as fraternity brothers. He does what he wants whenever he wants.
Senator Specter stumbled on how to stop George W. Bush: cut off his funding. Take away his heretofore carte blanche credit card. In the LATimes (April 28) Specter is reported to have said, "What's the use of passing another statute if the president won't pay any attention to it. When you talk about withholding funds, then you're talking about a real authority."
With any President, such a measure is one of "last resort." In this case, necessity has to be the mother of recognition before it is the mother of invention. The time for such recognition is now; and we must name the president for what he is -- a recklessly destructive delinquent who listens to nobody in his relentless quest to break things. This is the time to support Senator Specter by naming the kind of person who "won't pay any attention" to law. And it is time to get other lawmakers to join him. Only then can we put a halt to the train wreck that we are on.
