Kara Gerson is Executive Director of Voss Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing clean water access to Sub-Saharan African communities and raising awareness of the ongoing need in that region. Her efforts on behalf of clean water have been instrumental in changing the lives of over 100,000 people in Kenya, Mali, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, and Swaziland.
Kara has been profiled for her work with Voss Foundation in publications as diverse as USA Today, the Financial Times’ How To Spend It, and Indagare. In 2012 she was named one of Claudia Chan’s Remarkable Women, alongside such luminaries as Caryl M. Stern, Christy Turlington Burns, Jennifer Buffet, Josie Maran, Somaly Mam, Tory Burch, and Zainab Salbi.
Prior to Voss Foundation, Kara worked as a journalist for The Economist's New York bureau and The Hill newspaper in Washington, D.C, and as a freelance writer. She earlier honed her skills in public relations and marketing at The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as well as luxury fashion brands Mulberry and Coach.
