If you found yourself in the birthplace of jazz last night, CC's Community Coffee House is celebrating its 15th anniversary by partnering with the New Orleans Musician's Relief Fund for a free concert series kicking off with the Leroy Jones Trio.
In the spirit of sustainability, CC's has also created a Java Jacket from its jute packaging as a reusable cup sleeve.
The repurposed Java Jackets are being sold in CC's Community Coffee Houses throughout Louisiana for $2.95, and all proceeds from the 100% biodegradable cup sleeves will benefit the New Orleans Musician's Relief Fund's efforts.
NOMRF is still providing instruments, grants and gig opportunities five years after the charity's founding, thanks to support from music lovers around the world.
So far this winter NOMRF has donated a clarinet, violin, electric guitar and vintage Czech bass to New Orleans music prodigies.
Instruments are still coming in, and are presented to worthy recipients as CC's Community Coffee House and the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund work to conserve our environment and preserve our culture.
Details on the holiday series, which will also feature guitar virtuosos John Rankin and Phil DeGruy, are available at CC's Community Coffee House Facebook Page and the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund web site.
