I have spent a fair amount of time, over the years, in Paris. And I'll admit, I have become quite the Francophile. It is hard not to adore the food, the fashion, the architecture and the way of life. But what I really love about France are the French themselves.
In French culture, there is a very strong emphasis on nurturing close relationships. And my French friends are some of the most genuine and loyal people I have ever known. I am grateful to have them in my life.
That said, I so often hear from friends at home in the U.S. that they feel the French are cold, arrogant and standoffish. And I can't deny that I had a similar impression before I lived there.
So, being a travel journalist, I thought the subject warranted a video about this age-old, cultural misconception between Americans and the French: Do the French Dislike Americans?
