It's like a cake -- you wish you had one, you'd love to eat one, you can virtually taste it when you think about it, however, unless you decide what you want, go in the kitchen, stir up the ingredients, follow the recipe and bake it in the oven, there's no cake! Of course some might prefer chocolate chips over sprinkles but that's what makes us all individual and special.
Yes, you can buy a cake anywhere but the point is that there's a process to gathering all the right ingredients, following a plan of some sort, and putting it to action... then you can enjoy the sweets of your labor.
It doesn't happen by itself...
Wouldn't it be nice if it were all that simple? But the key is in the CREATION. If you truly want to reinvent your life, you really do need to identify the "ingredients" that would make you happy. After all, isn't that what we're all striving for? I talked about SUCCESS in a previous column -- for most of us Happiness is that marker of success, so if we could just identify the little things that impact us and we're trying to conquer, at least we know what to go after.
It's much easier to put the roadmap together when you know where you want it to lead. Then, putting one foot in front of the other in the right direction tends to make a lot more sense.
So start with the small things -- where do you want to spend your time - whether it's work or hobbies, health or relationships -- what's your goal and what feels right for YOU (definitely not for those around you!)
Pick one or two baby steps -- things that you know you can do - read an inspiring book, Google (or Bing) a topic that relates to what you're interested in pursuing, talk to a friend, find a mentor who will "coach you," make your "TO DO List" -- anything that gets you a little closer to making it a reality.
I'm also writing a book about reinventing your life so feel free to share your stories and favorite quotes with me -- let me know what you did and how it worked for you. We often feel inspired when we see others motivate to reach those goals.

Since the holidays are coming, that means a little more personal time to ourselves -- perfect for thinking about how to reinvent our lives -- just remember, it is up to you to create it!
