Let's Get Back To The Lies And Liars

Neil Cavuto and several of his guests yesterday provided a stark reminder of the unparalleled capacity authoritarians have to live comfortably with complete contradiction.

While Cavuto insists that children of illegal immigrants shouldn't have their health care paid for by Americans, he fails to focus the blame on those who allowed the situation in the first place. Instead, he points to liberals "demanding health benefits for kids who shouldn't even be here" as part of us "losing our rights," "losing our constitution," and "losing who we are."

EXCUSE ME! Am I missing something here? The Bush administration has kept the borders open - wide open - to millions of immigrants. Why? To meet the needs of self-serving businesses claiming Americans won't take the jobs. Try paying them a decent wage.

And if that isn't enough, Senator Bob Menendez (Dem- New Jersey) explained that illegal immigrant children aren't eligible under the bill Bush intends to veto and that this argument is a red herring.

Bill Kristol went after the bill because some people making 200-300% over the poverty line might try to get coverage for their children. So fix that part if it's true. But this is the same guy who last night referred to Democratic candidates in the last debate as "cavalier." Yet, he cavalierly pushes for war with Iran.

Who are these people? And when do we see them called on their lies instead of watching Tim Russert try to play Gotcha with Hillary Clinton by catching her in a disagreement with Bill. That was gratuitous, arguably sexist, and a waste of voter time.

Let's get back to pointing out the liars, as they're the truly dangerous ones. Even children aren't spared.

It's not that they are "lying." The things they say makes perfect sense in the language they speak. Granted it's different from the language the rest of us speak, but it can be easily translated.

Whenever they say "right" they mean: their right to exploit people and natural resources.
Whenever they say "free" they mean: THEIR ability to exercise their "right" and the ability of everyone else to "choose" to let them.
EVERYTHING they say is in order to further their goal of being able to rape and pillage without being made to feel guilty.

"The Bush administration has kept the borders open - wide open - to millions of immigrants. Why? To meet the needs of self-serving businesses claiming Americans won't take the jobs. Try paying them a decent wage."

I heard a grower interviewed on NPR when the immigration bill was before Congress bemoaning his inability to get enough (illegal) workers to pick his crops. He gave himself away when he mentioned that the reason wasn't tighter border controls but that the workers were all working construction jobs for higher pay.

Americans who need jobs will work any job, but no one should be asked to work for slave wages under sweatshop conditions.

I would like to know precisely what percent over the poverty line these creeps are earning and then have that broadcast on every network, every cable, every web site and every newspaper every day and repeated every time one of them spouts off that phrase in their talking points against the possibility of health care assistance for anyone, children and adults alike. Show them for the greedy self serving low lifes they really are.

Dear Weslenforever, I just don't get comments like yours.

The average family income in the US is circa $45000 (from memory, so don't shoot me if I'm off by a couple grand).

Why should a person making over $60,000 a year be allowed to suck up your tax money, my tax money, instead of using their own money for insurance?

I can't understand why someone making over $60K is deemed in need of public funding in this regard.

Dear doodlefabe~ Unfortunately I DO get comments like yours....

The wonderful people making Billions of dollars of profit on the backs of your fellow human beings' illness and suffering is why someone making XX$ in America still cannot obtain or afford basic healthcare. If you are truly puzzled by this try matching the American system against ANY other civilized country on Earth .... and wonder why ours is so goddamned expensive with much worse outcomes and 45 million not even covered IN the system. I say "goddamned" because you folks are always insisting this is a "christian nation" ..... indeed ....

It is free speech. There was just an odious liar on MSNBC called Angela McGlowan. She was lying about Limbaugh and Media Matters. She called all liberal liars. I guess she is emulating Ann Coulter, but is not as crazy.

She has the right to free speech and even the right to lie, but not the right to silence the left.

The limit of free speech is when you call for silencing the opposition. You cannot use free speech to call for an end to free speech. That is what programmers refer to an illegal recursive call.

Germs don't discriminate between rich and poor. Why would you want to send your kids to a public school with children who have no health insurance, or ride the same bus, subway, train, shop at the same grocery store with kids who could be carriers of all kinds of contagious diseases but who are not getting medical treatment for? Bigotry has always represented ignorance.

Do the well off think they came live as if they were quarentined from the 1/3 of children living in this country who have no health insurance? Foolish. Remember there is such a thing as "public health."

Unfortunately, USA VOTERS are unskilled at recognizing liars and hypocrites. They actually believe them and their ad-men who create fake images of cruel & crooked politicians posing as
"compassionate conservatives".

USA Voters need to VOTE WITH THEIR BRAIN and NOT their emotions, that are easily manipulated by
ad-men with criminal intent. Such liars deserve jail time for selling the public POLITICAL LEMONS.

Duplicity seems to be a badge of honor to the Republican party. If the choir says amen when you are done, no more need be thought or said. The problem is not how to make a better world, the problem is how to make more profit from the world and any colloquy that satisfies the electorate enough to insure election is sufficient. The more minimal the reasoning the better, as this leaves the bulk of the question in reserve for future play.

You can wince, faint, puke or go postal and it will not change the fact that the Republicans don"t care if they make any sense or not. In fact, they would rather not. They are hiding what they really think behind a layer of persiflage as deep and heavy as they can manage. Call bullshit on them until the cows come home and they don"t care as long as 55 million believers show up at the polls.

No instance of lying, no example of hypocrisy, no logical conclusion will make a difference as long as the presumptions of the public about Republicans remain unexamined by the public. And to examine the presumptions requires the same mass media reach that has created the false presumptions.

Any journalist, any writer, who can put even a nick in the façade of respectability of this party of exploitation is needed, desperately, by this country if we are to survive as this country.

"To meet the needs of self-serving businesses claiming Americans won't take the jobs. Try paying them a decent wage."

go to australia and you will find decent wages being paid in the service industries.

it is all about greed.

the repub lobbyists like chamber of commerce wants the illegals for cheap labor for their members.

the demos want the votes.

the catholics want to fill their pews and collection boxes.

now bush wants them to join our army and go kill iraqis for his mercenary army.

years ago we were told we would become a service society but will illegal labor that service society will be a low wage lower class society.

who is to blame? in a republic you only have to look at the voters.

americans are still looking for commies and socialists and terrorists under their beds.

If you read back to when Bush was playing golf
with old Vincente Fox, there, they established
these mexican consulates all over the place.
Their intentions were clear, as of that point,
Welcome to Amerexicanada, one 'nation' under WTO, and you can keep your 'ballot', there, 'citizen', as a souvenir of the pre-BushCo era. Who gotcha MONEEEEE?!?!?!!? LOL

The Weekly Standard shows that the coverage would start at, for a family of four, $62,000, instead of the poverty level of $41,000. $62,000 is hardly living in the lap of luxury, but Barnes and Kristol never pass up a chance to fuck the middle class.

The poverty level is not $41K - it's $20K. The bill extends subsidies to children living at or below poverty level and allows - if the administration grants an exception - coverage up to 300% of the poverty level. That's your $60K figure.

Bill Kristol is a piece o' work. I happened to tune into Faux News in time to hear his bit about how great it is when we do something that's 'bad' for the children. Compassionate Conservatism my ass...

You're right. There're allowances for incomes up to 400% the poverty level because in places like NYC, not even parents in the income-level can afford health coverage for their children.

Sad.
