So finally the show is here!!! Million Dollar Decorators......

If only I had taken Margaret Russell's (Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Digest) advice and insisted on hair and makeup, not to mention losing 15 pounds before the show was taped instead of after, I would have no negative comments.

I love the show. Martyn Lawrence Bullard was born for TV, the way he makes fun of himself but at the same time is highly professional and gets the job done. He and I go back many years; I'm a huge fan of his work. Nathan Turner was a regular guest at The Libby Ranch in Ojai before selling to Reese Witherspoon. His genius as a cook is only surpassed by his extraordinary eye for antiques.  And, as we are neighbors in our Almont yard showrooms in West Hollywood, I get sneak peaks at all of his new treasures. Jeffrey Allan Marks lives close to me in Santa Monica and my Saturday bike ride takes me past Jeffrey and Ross's front door, the perfect place to stop for a cup of coffee. Their house is ravishing, everything is always immaculately in place, despite the two labs bounding around -- it's the opposite of my house, with my one little Jack Russell. (Well, I suppose I do have three teenage boys.) Mary McDonald is hilarious, self-deprecating, and doesn't take herself so seriously, all the traits I love in a woman. It should also be said that she's perfectly turned out at all times.

I am really enjoying following my fellow cast members storylines. What I find most compelling about MDD is how the diversity to all our lives keeps the show moving really fast.  Martyn's reference to his heavily Botoxed forehead, Mary's comment on her client's divorce, "I thought you were going to tell me something really bad had happened, like you lost all your money" makes me laugh. My own boys and Jacqueline my housekeeper never fail to amuse me even as they are driving me nuts. If I could just teach them all to tidy up after themselves (and that includes Jacqueline!), life would be so much less stressful at home. But chaos is all that I know and, somehow, I thrive in it. Having had three boys in less than four years, I've certainly learned how to think fast on my feet. Although it seems as though my car is actually my office as I migrate daily between my warehouse and showroom, finding a way to work out of the house and being around for the boys is a top priority.

This docu-soap is well shot and edited. Having worked in the film business before I became an interior designer, I can certainly appreciate what it takes to get anything on the screen. Rich Bye and his team have delivered a wildly entertaining show. If this is a preview of what's to come, I'm already hooked!

Kathryn, I love that you don't look like the stereotypical Hollywood type and the fact that you let your sons "cook" dinner was so refreshing. If you ever want to decorate the East Coast home of a lowly writer on a tight budget (daughter heading off to college), I promise to tell everyone it was done by "Ireland!"

I enjoyed the first show in large part because of you, and because you weren't all Hollywoody made-up and emaciated. Talent comes in all shapes and sizes, as you proved, and you are fun to watch to boot. Bravo to Bravo and the designers for a fun hour of vicarious thrills.

I tried to watch this...only made it through half of it. With the exclusion of Ms. Ireland everyone was really just too full of themselves. I wanted to see more of the design process then someone washing their dog.

So the point is one of the people on a show really likes it. Usually people who aren't on the show are the ones you want to hire to critique it. It's an objectivity thing.

It's tough for ad-blocking software to block the ads when the 'content' at a website is just ads for the endeavours of corporate partners.

Kathryn, I saw the show this evening...I will continue to watch it--but--Martyn is more than annoying--the pied a terre he designed for Sharon Osbourne...seemed to be more Martyn than Sharon. Mary was very funny and the line you mentioned was possibly the most honest thought I have ever heard from anyone on reality TV! I love your showroom and the sofa in the red print is to die for--your housekeeper in her sunglasses...amazing...I'm still not clear on the other designers and their names--but I am semi senile...it will take a week. My only question is this--would these same people be able to do as creative and jaw droppingly beautiful of a design if they were limited by budget? Say between 1% and 10% of the dollar amounts they are spending now...?

Another show about people I'll never meet decorating homes I'll never be allowed into with things I'll never be able to afford, edited to make it look like they're warm and wacky and amusing.

Neat-o.

Yup it' the Reagan legacy-only rich folk matter on TV everyone else-THEY DON'T EXIST.

I went to a design seminar Kathryn Ireland gave in Atlanta last year. Her presentation was extremely entertaining. The show looks fun - wish it was on earlier.

Can't wait for the premiere of what's to be Bravo's next huge hit. A fantastic cast of hilarious characters and fabulous design! What's not to love?!

Was lucky to attend a Premiere viewing recently. What fun. Love Martin's sense of humor! Everyone has great style and unique personalities. My personal favorite is Kathryn's relaxed, warm and comfy stylings that make any room inviting and imaginative.

Looking forward to "getting to know" each designer - Jeffrey, Nathan, Mary, Martin
