And you think ONE wife is time-consuming. Just kidding. This is not an anti-Mormon post. Some of my best friends are Mormon. But if Mitt can dish it out, he should be able to take it. By it, I mean, of course, intolerance. In other words, I don't care what religion he is. But I do care that Mitt has said he wouldn't have Muslims in his cabinet. The Mormon's were, indeed persecuted. But if Mitt's sensitivity and acceptance in restricted to Mormonism, it's hard for me to feel sorry for him. Mitt's religious-tolerance preaching and JFK comparing is opportunistic, in light of his less than tolerant stance on Muslims and atheists. It's as hypocritical as, let's say, preaching immigration tolerance, while at the same time advancing immigrant-intolerant speech and policies. If that sounds familiar, it is. During the Republican debates-- sorry, during the Florida, Youtube, debates, Mitt slammed Giuliani for being the mayor of a sanctuary city, and bragged about his own 0 tolerance for "aliens" stance.
If you're here illegally, you should not be here. We're not going to give you benefits, other than those required by the law, like healthcare and education, and that's the course we're going to have to pursue.
When Rudy shot back that New York's "sanctuary city" didn't hold a candle to Mitt's "sanctuary mansion," which was maintained by Mexican gardeners and lawnmowers, the Governor reverted to his Bostonian alter ego, delivering a multi-culti, celebrate-diversity, envision-world-peace diatribe vindicating his tired, his poor, his huddled landscapers.
Are you suggesting, Mr. Mayor--because I think it's really kind of offensive, actually, to suggest--to say, look, you know what, if you're a homeowner and you hire a company to come provide a service at your home--paint the home, put on the roof--if you hear someone that's working out there... if you hear someone with a funny accent, you, as a homeowner, are supposed to go out there and say, "I want to see your papers." Is that what you're suggesting? That you now are responsible for going out and checking the employees of that company, particularly those that might look different or don't have an accent like yours, and ask for their papers? I don't think that's American, number one. Number two--
But then, much to the releif of all God/ immigration-fearing people, Mitt, without skipping a beat (well, OK a few beats, during which Anderson Cooper reminded The Governor, in vain, "We got to move on"), Mitt continued his enumeration of good deeds against bad aliens.
Let me tell you what I did as governor. I said no to driver's licenses for illegals. I said, number two, we're going to make sure that those that come here don't get a tuition break in our schools, which I disagree with other folks on that one. Number three, I applied to have our state police enforce the immigration laws in May, seven months before I was out of office. It took the federal government a long time to get the approvals, and we enforced the law. And Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state, and the policies of the mayor of pursuing a sanctuary nation or pursuing a sanctuary city--
So I apologize for making fun of Mormonism, which no longer permits polygamy. And their whole racist things is so 1970s; in 1978, after a vision from God (and pressure from the IRS), the Church of Latter Day Saints lifted their ban against Black priests. I am going to miss watching Mitt preach religous tolerance (for Mormons only) and practice intolerance towards atheists, Muslims, gay people, and immigrants. But, as a great man, prophet and failed presidential candidate once said, "I felt like I had to say something because I simply cannot let my[self] be a part of aiding a surrender to [hypocritical and sanctimonious] terror."

Romney should look on the bright side. Now that his sons are no longer busy on his campaign, they now have the time to enlist and join the "war on terror" in Iraq. Or better yet, since Romney wants to double the size of Guantanamo, here are 5 guards ready and willing to help.
I'm a Democrat and I find your headline to be utterly disgusting. I don't know what is wrong with 95% of the bloggers like you on Huffingtonpost and the Cable News people. You have all just become mean-spirited bullies. I suppose it's easier to write a blog that ridicules other people and provides a laugh at their expense. What's wrong with writing about serious issues that provoke serious debate rather that just baiting people and keeping half of the people angry about something all of the time? I just have to blame sites like Huffingtonpost and MSNBC news for creating one of the most divisive experiences in elections that I can ever remember.
Democrats don't discriminate against others. And they don't tolerate those who do. We believe ALL persons are created equal under the law. Black White Gay Straight Man Woman. You obviously tolerate discrimination. And it was not the poster who looked into a magic hat and decided that men should be allowed to take as many wives as they wanted, as young as they wanted and lord over them as if they were property! So I for one, doubt you are a Democrat, and j'accuse: TROLL!
Apparently you FAILED to even look at Mollye's profile and other posts made. If you had, you would have noticed that Mollye is a Hillary supporter. So apparently, you need to DemandTruth of yourself since you failed to perform simple due diligence. It throws your credibility down the drain.
Nice oxymoron ad hominen by the way:
"Democrats don't discriminate against others. And they don't tolerate those who do."
I guess not discriminating is different from intolerance. Besides, I know of intolerant and discriminating Dems as well as Reps, so it cuts both ways and if you believe your statement, you must be pretty naive.
No need to provide laughs through blogs...Mi tt's campaign was enough of a joke. And if you read past the headline you'd see that it did touch on serious issues. Namely hypocritical, intolerant, say-anythi ng-to-get- elected politicians who feign frustration anytime their tactics are turned against them.
I didn't find Katie's blog "mean-spirited," or "irresposbile," but big-hearted and decent. Using the weapons of satire and sarcasm she attacked Romney's hate-mongering religiosity and defended his victims. Her point with the headline (and the faceted blog that followed) seems to do unto Mitt what Mitt does unto others. Excessive, dishonest, unfair! That's the point! Hey, Jonathan Swift would get into trouble with Mollye and some of the other readers, I suspect,--for his modest proposal to kill little children.
you want more wives move to az and you can have as many wives as you want. and here is the neat part the az taxpayers will support you kids.
you heard me right. move to colorado city in northen az and no one will touch you. cant az is a morman state and no elected politican dare touch colorado city for fear of losing elections.
welcome to america and thanks az taxpayers that is nice of you to support all those kids in colorado city. very nice.
the husbands in that city thank you every night of their lives while they pick a different woman to sleep with each night and know you will pay for the support of the kid they are making.
great state az.
Huh? Arizona is not a Mormon state. Mormons do not practice polygamy. What on earth are you talking about?
You can't take it back.
I'm not Mormon but I found your HEADLINE to be more than irresponsible. It might be one thing to make a joke in the body of an article; questionable but not offensive, but since your headline implies that he is a polygamist.
You want people to really practice religious tolerance? Stop using yer headline-pulpit to cast stones.
arg, lag is leaving out bits, should read:
. . . implies that he is a polygamist when you know in fact he is not, you are playing on a common prejudice, and what does that do but inflame intolerance.
Well, if the Mitt-bot can "imply" that his daddy marched with MJK, when he did NOTHING of the sort, I guess the poster can "imply" anything she likes. And it was the Mitt-Machine himself who SAID he followed the religion of his ancestors, which I assume includes his grandpappy who WAS a polygamist. There's no getting around the fact that his family and his religion are tied in together with polygamy and mysogeny. Sorry, you just can't spin or fake-outrage that away.
Alas, my dream Republican ticket of Giuliani-Romney or Romney-Giuliani has fallen afoul of a fickle public's over-sensitive digestive tract. Evidently, even Republicans can't stand their crap.
My Plan B dream ticket of Huckabee-McCain or McCain-Huckabee is looking better, though. Pairing the two most delusional national politicians in recent memory would be a good thing. Even better for The Daily Show and Colbert Nation.
