It's that time of year when tricks and treats seem to find their way into your pantry, much to the dismay of your weight loss and health goals.

A bit of nervousness and fear is probably setting in for you've been here before, and although you often start this season off with the best intentions, "THIS year it's going to be different!" or "THIS year I just know I won't binge on (fill in the blank here with your favorite candy)!" you are just praying you stay on track.

Well my friend, you're right... THIS year can be different, let me tell you why.

THIS year you have me in your back pocket sending you stay-on-track tips every week and holding your hand through the holidays! I'm going to be giving you the very strategies that often help me LOSE weight during the holidays... I'm talking about the ones that actually work, WITHOUT you feeling deprived!

Oooh-la-la... heck yes!

I want to give you a few very easy tips to keep the tempting treats out of your pantry, because we both know they're usually gone by the time the trick-or-treaters start ringing your doorbell. This year you won't have to make that depressing last minute run to the grocery store for more candy, because you already ate it all... not this year!

YUMMY TRICK-OR-TREAT OPTIONS THAT KIDS WILL ACTUALLY LIKE:

  • Mini-packs of trail mix that are pre-packaged from Trader Joe's or any other health based store... they have all kinds of mixtures with raw nuts, chocolate nibs, and dried fruit. Tasty and still relatively healthy!
  • Cute little boxes of raisins (I know, not as exciting, but the parents will appreciate you for it).
  • Little pre-packaged baggies of Annie's graham cracker bunnies, there's a lot of different flavors... chocolate, peanut butter, graham. Check with your local health food store to see what options are available in your hometown.

The most important thing is you do YOURSELF a favor this year and keep all the junk out of your pantry. Your sweetest treat to give yourself is to set yourself up for success, and keep the kids in your life healthy as well. It's our responsibility to teach our children that healthy can be delicious and fun!

All my Halloween gremlin love,

Kerry
