Copenhagen Lockdown [video]

What's Your Reaction:

A good friend of mine, Kris Krug, is a top photographer and is here at the Copenhagen climate talks. He's been spending a lot time immersed in the protests and documenting what's been happening in the streets.

Here's a video he made of what he's seen so far:

I posted this video last night. It's just amazing that all this is going on and what's on the front page of the paper? Happy-happy-joy-joy Olympic team spirit blather and "single mom of pit bull wins lottery" and so on.

I don't even know how many people are aware how much peaceful protest is occuring in Copenhagen during these talks, let alone the resulting violence. There are so many large issues at stake in our world right now. But these talks are so important; but only if they produce concrete change. Let's get real,,,this is not about saving our planet; this is about saving ourselves.
There is a new generation that realizes the time is NOW! Truly it is their and their children's long term future. It is difficult to see the violence used on these young people that want to create real and profound change and those that don't understand and just want to squelch their voice. I continue to feel hopeful though...these images show the committment and passion of this new generation to create change peacefully. And I pray that the violence ends, leaders listen and move out of their cocoons; and a miracle comes out of these talks.
I want to thank Kris Krug and Chuck Olsen for your courage, heart and passion to make a difference through your revealing work. Kris your photos speak volumes, and Chuck your video footage is sobering. And thanks to Danielle Sipple for your vision and committmen for putting these powerful images together in a compelling video.
The three of you are part of this change.............
