People Fill the Streets for Climate Action in Bangkok

What's Your Reaction?

I'm in Bangkok, Thailand this week covering the United Nations' meeting on climate change for the International Climate Action Network and as I'm going down to breakfast, I see thousands of everyday people filling the streets with colorful banners, costumes, megaphones and drums.

They were all there to send a single message to world leaders: Take action on climate change now. The two week United Nation's climate change meeting in Bangkok is an important one. Negotiators representing most of the world's countries are in attendance to work on what the final climate treaty will look like when it's presented to government leaders at the international summit on climate change that is happening in Copenhagen in December.

So what a great way to start the week! Thousands of people all speaking with one voice, to tell their government that they want them to be leaders on climate change is an important equation in the formula that will get us all a fair, ambitious and binding deal in Copenhagen.

Here's some quick video I shot. It was very cool to see TckTckTck logos everywhere.

With the earliest snow day in the history of the state of Idaho and Colorado ski resorts opening earlier than ever.....is it any wonder nobody is paying attention to you anymore Kevin?

My bet is that the people on the streets haven't a clue about the "science" of global warming. All they care about is that it is being used as an excuse for major transfers of wealth from the industrialized nations to the third world nations such as Indonesia.

Amen. I am all for universal health care (even with the public option!), I'm agnostic more days than not, and I believe wholeheartedly in evolution...and I think the left is out to lunch on this one. I am calling it--twenty years from now all of the foolproof "models" that the scientific community has relied on for the apocalyptic nonsense they have been promulgating will have long since been discredited. My only hope is that people remember the hyperbole being spit out as gospel these days, and that they learn to think twice before believing that science can never be wrong.

I guess if it helps you sleep at night you can make all the junk science arguments and conspiracy theories you want to ignore this problem.

You are correct. We Democrats will have to wear this like an albatross because we couldn't pull the crazies in our party back from the brink.

Agreed. It's amazing to be so far away from home and see such familiar campaigns playing out on the other side of the planet!

And great to see the 350 signs!

Yes it amazingthat people are so concerned, they need to be ! Whether you understand the science or not look around and in the last ten years there are changes in what nature is doing that have changed dramaticaly.

While part is due to natures cycles to dream that the industrialized behavior of much of mankind will have no effect, then you are dreaming and need to get acquainted with Newtons Third law of motion, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction !

Sleep well nay sayers !
