As the oceans go, so goes this planet, our Mother and ONLY home. Do you REALLY think humanity has any chance at the survival of the species?

Here's another way to try to grapple with the meaning of 25,000 barrels. It's about one tenth of an Exxon Valdez Unit (EVU). The Exxon Valdez was roughly 260,000 barrels of spilled oil or 11 million gallons, or 1 EVU.

Others have estimated the daily flow in gulf at, I think, 70,000 barrels. This would put the flow at about .27 EVUs per day. One EVU every four days, over 60 days, is 15 EVUs. Yikes.

DOES ANYONE WONDER WHY THEY DON'T DRILL THE RELIEF WELLS NEXT TO THESE OIL WELLS BEFORE THEY EVEN START BRINGING UP OIL?.........SO IF THERE IS AN OIL LEAK THEY CAN IMMEDIATELY UTILIZE THE RELIEF WELL TO STOP THE LEAK.

WE ARE NOW WAITING MONTHS FOR A RELIEF WELL TO BE DRILLED NEXT TO THE ORIGINAL WELL TO STOP THE PRESENT LEAK.

WHY WASN'T THIS RELIEF WELL DRILLED WHEN THEY DUG/DRILLED THE ORIGINAL OIL WELL SO IT WOULD BE READY IN CASE OF A LEAK?

I'VE READ REPEATED POSTS ON THE INTERNET THAT STATE THAT THIS IS REQUIRED BY LAW IN CANADA AND OTHER COUNTRIES.

Might have something to do with the massive oil lobby in Washington, DC whose job it is to fight any regulation that will effect the bottom line for the companies they represent.

Relief well regulation = less money in the multi-billion dollar money pile.

That type of redundancy is only required everywhere else in the world where they deep-water drill.
Kinda like the separate factory lines for the EU with the Chinese plastics. Their kids get the 'unleaded', ours not. Call your Senator!
