Winning Webbys for Climate Change

Three top climate change campaigns -- by TckTckTck, 350.org, and Greenpeace.org -- are up for Webby Awards in 2010 (incidentally, so too is the Huffington Post's Politics page).

Three top climate change campaigns of last year are up for prestigious Webby Awards in 2010.

The TckTckTck campaign is nominated for Best Activism website.

Greenpeace International is nominated for Best Green Site for their "Love Letters to the Future" project.

The 350 campaign
is nominated for Best Video in the Public Service and Activism category.

And, in other news, not entirely unrelated, Huffington Post is nominated for best Political blog.

Voting closes on Thursday, April 29th, so please take a moment to cast your votes. These little things do make a huge difference, especially when it comes to maintaining the momentum and continuing to communicate the need for action to deal with climate change.

With the Copenhagen international climate treaty capping off 2009, there was a lot of resources put into seeing a successful outcome. Unfortunately, a fair, ambitious and legally binding deal was not delivered at the treaty summit, but there were some bright spots.

The most important thing to come out of Copenhagen was momentum. More than ever, people are aware of how important it is that world leaders take this issue seriously and get down to the work of hammering out a long-term solution.

Every opportunity that is not taken to continue feeding this momentum is an opportunity lost.

The three campaigns nominated for Webby's and the organizations behind them all played a huge role in building the momentum and need all the help they can get to continue to do what they do.

Full disclosure:
I was a consultant on the TckTckTck campaign and darn proud of it!
