In March of this year, Milicruit in partnership with the Military Officers Association of America, DirectEmployers Association, and 20 leading employers launched the 10,000 Jobs for Veterans and Military Spouses Challenge. As the name implies, it is our goal to find at least 10,000 jobs for veterans and their spouses by the end of 2013. In just over three months, these employers have already hired 4,807. The employers who have stepped up to take the challenge are not doing this because they feel obligated, but rather because they recognize and value the skills, education, training, character, and ethics veterans and military spouses bring to the workforce.
Each month, the employers who are partners in the challenge meet with active duty, guard/reservists, veterans and military spouses in the Milicruit virtual career fairs. In the Milicruit events, veterans can view/apply for jobs with all employers, visit employer booths, chat live with recruiters and connect with fellow veterans in the networking lounge. In essence, we bring the career fair to them. All that is needed is a computer with an Internet connection. The next virtual career fair will be on June 26th from 1-4 p.m. and veterans and their spouses can register at www.veteranscareerfair.com.
One of the employers who will be participating is Xerox Business Services. With a long history of supporting and hiring veterans to their organization, Xerox Business Services knows that hiring veterans just makes good business sense. They have commited to hiring at least 1400 veterans and military spouses in 2012 alone.
