Barry Hovland and Kimberly Beck currently live on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. They offer photography and videography services to tourists as well as residents while maintaining their 22 acre farm. They blog about photography, life in Costa Rica and becoming new homesteaders at www.10degreesabove.com.
Barry is the Photography Instructor at 10 degrees above. He started painting in his youth and later studied photography at the University of New Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography. For 3 years prior to his move to Costa Rica, he was an Instructor of Photography at Antonelli College in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Barry and Kim met while serving with the U.S. Peace Corps in Tanzania, East Africa. As environmental volunteers, they worked with their communities on projects such as food preservation, clean water and girls empowerment programs . They married shortly after their return.
