Kimberly Marteau Emerson is a Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the California Committee South and sits on the Development Committee of the International Board, of Human Rights Watch. She serves on the Board of the Harvard Public Diplomacy Collaborative, the Advisory Board of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, and is an active member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.

In April 2007, she traveled to Nigeria with the National Democratic Institute, joining former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright as an international election observer. In October 2005, she evaluated tsunami-related projects in Sri Lanka with relief organization Operation USA. Locally, Kimberly is a Zoo Commissioner and serves on the boards of United Friends of the Children, the Colburn School of Performing Arts, and the Board of the Music Center's Blue Ribbon.

Kimberly, with her husband, John, was honored with the Ira E. Yellin Community Leadership Award from the American Jewish Committee (2009), the Rebecca Thompson Founder's Award from the Los Angeles Children's Chorus (2008) and the Spirit of Liberty Award from People For the American Way (2004). Kimberly has been involved in several Democratic Presidential campaigns in both fundraising and organizational capacities, and very actively supports progressive Federal, State and local candidates and causes.

During the Clinton Administration, Kimberly served as Director of Public Liaison and domestic spokesperson for the US Information Agency. Prior to that, she spent several years in the film and television industry as an executive, and was a lawyer with Tuttle & Taylor. Kimberly received her J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law, a Master's in French Private Law from the Universite d'Aix-Marseilles, and a B.A. from UCLA, and speaks French. She has three beautiful daughters.
