Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein is King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. King Abdullah is one of the most prominent voices in the Arab world championing comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace, beginning with a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. He has actively encouraged the parties to resume negotiations and has sought international support for and engagement in the Middle East peace process to ensure a settlement that secures the internationally recognized rights and interests of all concerned parties. At home, the monarch has spearheaded efforts to improve Jordanians' living standards through the implementation of an ambitious socio-economic reform program and the institution of numerous international economic and trade partnerships. The King is also a leading advocate of youth participation in development, and has sought to harness the talents and energies of Jordan's young population to drive change.
