#TalkToMe: A Soul Chat Between Mother and Son

Are there conversations you wished you had? Words left unsaid? Don't wait. I hope this will spark some interest in you to say the things that need to be said. You might just spark something in someone else.

If the events of my life thus far have taught me anything -- it is to give flight to the sentiments my heart wishes to express. When The Huffington Post reached out to have me participate in a new project, Talk To Me, a new video series with the intention of sparking meaningful conversation between parents and children, it was pure music to my ears. Selfishly, it was one way to get with the "resident teenager," aka my 15-year-old son, Miles, to sit down with me and to capture something on video that I know I will treasure the rest of my life. But further to that, participating in this allowed me to express sentiments that transcend me and my son, and have broad universal impact.

I believe that when we reach forward and help our children manifest their best selves, to tap into their intuition, to remind them of their true power -- we become a part of charting a new course -- one of possibility. Witnessing the unfolding of my son's path in life has helped me heal my own. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have always told Miles that, aside from using his power in this life for good -- I have urged him to pursue what he loves -- to make a life, not just a living. Maybe he does listen to me a tad bit after all (there is a God!).

When we plant a seed, nurture and support it -- beautiful things bloom. In this unrehearsed, 1-take "soul chat" -- I am interviewed by my son, who shares some remarkable insight about finding individual purpose and passion. I am immensely proud of him as a human being and so very hopeful for his generation, one that has the ability to shift the world. Let's collectively nurture these young people and remind them of their power.
