For over a decade, Kristine Holmgren's thoughtful political commentary was featured on the editorial pages of the Star Tribune. Ordained to the ministry of the Presbyterian church, Holmgren’s essays are published by The Guardian, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Baltimore Sun, and Los Angeles Times. Her short stories are anthologized in The Magic of Christmas Miracles, published by William and Morrow and her life outlined in In the Company of Women; published by Minnesota Historical Society Press. She is a frequent commentator for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered.

Her plays include GOD GIRL, (History Theatre, St. Paul, MN, 2015), "PAPER DADDY" (Northfield Arts Guild, 2011, Talking Horse Theatre, Columbia MO 2013, Sunrise Beach Theatre, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, 2015), “SWEET TRUTH” (Berlin Theatre, Columbia, MO, 2013).

Her fourth play, THE GIVING HOUSE, was commissioned by the Minnesota Historical Society and slated for 2017 production.
