Darcy Burner is my favorite Congressional candidate. She narrowly lost to incumbent Dave Reichert in Washington's 8th District in 2006. She's never stopped fighting and is running a superb campaign this cycle. She's a true progressive and not afraid to stand up for the things we hold dear. It's not easy for me to have no criticism of you when it comes to carrying the progressive mantle, but Darcy hits a home run.
Very early yesterday morning, Darcy awoke to the screams of her five-year-old son alerting her and her husband to a smoke coming from his bedroom. Thankfully, they all escaped safely. Her home was destroyed and she's having to take time away from the campaign to tend to family business.
A slew of bloggers have stepped up to take the pressure off Darcy while she gets her life back in order. David Goldstein has the details up at Horse's Ass. Open Left does too. Markos has this up at Daily Kos. These are only a handful of the bloggers who are urging their readers to raise money so Darcy doesn't have to worry about getting behind in her campaign. Please go to your favorite blog and give through their ActBlue page so that Darcy knows how much we care.
Here is a video that shows how resilient she is. Let's get behind a progressive champion. I chipped in $50....

Darcy and Family, God speed.
She's amazing. Most people would be in a crumpled heap of tears if they had just lost their home and gotten a scare like that.
done already. I'm just glad they are all OK.
Am I crazy, or is this the third Democratic candidate I have heard about this year whose house had a fire.
No, you heard, "Democrats are on fire!"
