I know many of you will be making the voyage to our Nation's Capital in the next few days for the festivities surrounding the swearing in of the new Congress. For those of you hanging around through next Sunday, I've just stumbled upon something in my own neighborhood that you MUST check out.
On a whim, my roomate, his girlfriend and I went to brunch at Perry"s at 18th Street and Columbia Road in Adams Morgan. What we found was a darn good time. And the food was great.
On Sundays at 10:30, the doors open to Perry's Drag Brunch. But we didn't know that when we arrived.
While standing in line at the buffet, Whitney Houston's "I'm Every Woman" began blasting throughout the dining room. I was sure that someone would immediately return the volume to a normal level. Instead, a drag performer passed by in dramatic fashion to the center of the dining room. What ensued was a series of incredibly entertaining and borderling scandalous performances. The audience of above average affluence was mostly straight, but loved every minute of it.
Drag and Spicy Bloody Mary's combine to make quite a memorable brunch! I'll likely be there next week with my house guests. I hope to see you there!
