With economy in the tank, Bush approval ratings below 30%, McCain campaign floundering without a theme, Obama has been having the best last three weeks in media yet.

Obama stays at 46% over last several weeks. McCain +4 at 44%.

What does that tell you?

My answer: despite all the recent headlines, Senator Obama cannot afford to be confident -- and he needs to reach out to expand his base.

My answer: Senator Clinton would still help him most as a vice presidential candidate.

One of the many reasons the GOP has been eating the Democrats' lunch is that the Democrats don't understand arithmetic, and Karl Rove does.

When you appeal "to the base", and you win a vote, you gain ONE vote.

When you appeal to the opposition's supporters, and you win a vote, you gain TWO votes - one more that votes FOR you, and one less that votes AGAINST you.

Hillary's crowd are ERA supporters, and those who loved her health insurance program. I thought they were both good ideas, but the fact is, they were both losers. Of Hillary's 35 years of experience (I mentioned that Democrats don't understand arithmetic, didn't I), half of it has been spent NOT passing universal health insurance.

I'm not going to argue that Hillary wouldn't make a good vice-presidential candidate; she would - for McCain. Every supporter that she would bring to McCain would be a two-fer. That'd put a lot of the solidly-blue states in play. But I don't think she'd accept his offer. It's a sure route to the White House if McCain would win, because his running mate would succeed to the office within, oh, two or so years, but she's afraid that if she lost, she'd be villified as a traitor to the party for the next century. (If she won? In that case, "none dare cause it treason". But 84% say the country is heading down the wrong track, McSame has little chance of winning.)

Lanny,

Get over it. Your candidate lost. Do you support Obama or not? Or have you drank the Fox Kool-Aid and gone over to the other side?

If you still need time to come to terms with your loss, that's fine. Just do it in private -- don't inflict it on the rest of America. If you need a break, I understand; after all, we need a break from you.

Have you no decency Mr. Davis?

Lanny,
God knows I love you for what you did for Hillary during the primaries but there is nothing that Obama can do to make most of us PUMA members vote for him. He is dangerously naive and I question his qualifications for this job. There is no way I'm going to give this man the "keys to the country" after being a US Senator for only one year before you decided that "we" couldn't live without "him". Give up Lanny. McCain is our guy now for the next four years. We need Hillary to stay out of this race that way she can't be blamed for Obama losing this election. Her at the VP spot doesn't change the fact that HE would be president. Plus he would make her into a Dan Quayle type VP anyway. No deal!

"What does that tell you?", Lanny asks.

It tells me something is wrong with the poll!
