My Job Offer for Anthony Weiner

Posted: 06/16/11 04:58 PM ET

Mr. Weiner:

After having learned of your sudden and compelled resignation from your Congressional post, I would like to make you an offer of employment at Flynt Management Group, LLC in our Internet group. As a Congressman, you are known for your intensity and perseverance. I believe that this attitude, combined with your service in the House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce, will make you a valuable asset to this corporation.

This offer is not made in jest. To show our sincerity, Flynt Management Group, LLC is willing to pay twenty percent more than your former Congressional salary, ensuring that your medical benefits would be equal to what you were previously receiving. While you will have to relocate to our corporate offices in Beverly Hills, California, we would pay for all relocation costs.

Again, I cannot emphasize enough the genuineness of this offer. We are a serious corporation which, as you know, has been heavily involved in the political environment of this country for over thirty-five years. Our key missions have consistently included the crucial fight of battling hypocrisy within the federal and state governments. Flynt Management Group, LLC and Hustler Magazine have been dedicated to decades of serious political commentary. Just as we do not undertake insincere political crusades, we do not make insincere job offers.

While this employment opportunity is being offered in large part due to your qualifications and clear passion for making a change, I feel that your unfortunate resignation is a prime example of unfounded political pressure and the hypocrisy that has invaded democracy in Washington D.C. I hope you will sincerely consider this offer, and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Larry C. Flynt

I'd pay for a job like this...figures I'd have to be a politician in a sex scandal to even get offered first.

Mr. Flynt certainly knows how to pick his spots. If Spitzer can re-enter the political game, so can Weiner.

This job offer from a man who has made a fortune pedeling sex and denegrating women is to me, a terrible insult to Weiner. It must make him even more depressed than he already. Have some compassion people, Weiner was a fast track legislator pushing progressive causes, he was just stupid about his sexual issues and ego. Imagine going from the top of the world to the gutter in a couple of weeks amid national shame and a permanent negative image in political image. I really did not know much about him, I am just amazed at how he was brought down and trashed.

It should be seen for what I believe it is-an affront to all people, and little
more than a transparent effort to capture a few rays of the media spotlight.

This Weiner situation proves anonymity on the web is passé. If you are going to be an important figure in the political realm, you have to acknowledge the changing times. Of course there are players on Capitol Hill. However, the risk this promiscuity imposes upon them is detrimental to their careers. The real question is, why do they do they let their own selfish pleasures play into their lives when they are under national scrutiny? How could you, or anybody else for that matter, risk their entire careers for a little pleasure? If you believe Weiner had the right to do what he did, then you would be just fine with your children's school teachers doing the same thing.

Why is it that those who say 'god belss america' all the time are the ones that see no need to improve america, and even condemn those who try to criticize it's flaws which need addressing?

I guess they figure the words are enough.

I can see your point. I guess at some point using GBA is like saying have a nice day. Does someone who says that really mean that. Comment registered. I see 1000's of flaws in America. But, I see a better life here than in many countries of the World. And as for criticisms. I feel most should be said constructively. That is how I prefer to address mine. Not that from time, I am more blatant.

There are in life ethics, morals, respect, decency and PROTOCOL. The world has changed. And with instant communication, gratification so has our inability to consider the pros and cons of our choices. Mr. Weiner made a grave mistake in thinking he should post such pictures. John Doe who is not a leader with constituents may choose and never receive the repercussions of such an act. There are rules and obligations to those serving in the Public, Private and Governmental sectors. If he is truly sincere. The voters may give him another chance. I am hopeful that he actually recognizes, accepts and resolves his issues. Or, keeps them to himself. Do I have to state the obvious. OK, I will. We all have angst, we all have desires we all have needs. But, before you put yourself first. Think of those around you. They deserve more. And, I know. I learn more from my mistakes everyday. I don't have a PHD, Masters or College degree. But, I sure have earned one heck of an EDUCATION from my PAST. Good Luck to all that this may apply.

I agree but why do politicians go down so fast with a sex scandal yet those who have been dishonest and has taken every perk, payoff and other sleazy business get to remain with no more than a censure or a couple of days of bad press. I think a personal indiscretion needs to be weighed against the overall achievements since we need effective lawmakers.

Good question, and I am lacking an explanation-perhaps because of some
innate perception or fear that in affairs of the heart all have the potential
to be a victim as was AW's wife, and these things are seen as the ultimate
betrayal, so there is a knee jerk reaction.
An obvious titillation factor fueled by the media as well, as can be seen in various comments.
But the overriding issue for me is that a standard be set and strictly adhered to
across the board-that the bar be raised, not lowered or maintained at it's
present level. We are, after all, talking about "public servants", not demi-gods.
This is a nation without consensus, other than maybe to chant USA at sporting
events-that lack of national consensus reflects in all things. Diversity is a great
thing-but unity in common cause has a nobility to it that is sorely lacking.
Unity has no obligation to have a party name affixed to it-only a common
will and desire.

Cause and Effect. They enlist to the position with Cause. But, when they see their own futility and inability to Effect the situation. They crumble with little humility. They succumb to ambiguity, status quot and amazingly; memory of who put them there in the first place. When man withers, hides and scoffs at what he feels his just deserve. There s no longer the ability to lead, represent and provide. The meek have inherited the congress. And the nation suffers.

I'm pretty sure since the offer was tender in the public arena for the attention
it would draw AW knows all about it.

A lot of talk and minimum walk represented in these comments, excepting the Flynt job offer. My conservatism is not just theory; it embraces the substance of Larry Flynt's conscious efforts to forward what is right (or should be) about this country. He is a rich businessman who understands that the general welfare applies to all, that issues are not either/or propositions, nor that they are defined by personality. Liberal compassion is also part of my make up, as it has been for the 42 years that I have been a registered Republican.

2011 still young, I will wait to see if the next Washington person will be treated like Mr. Weiner was, specially if that person turns to be A REPUBLICAN.?
