You're Worth More Than Your Ass

Few songs from the 21st century have been as offensive to me as "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas. Yes, it was catchy, and yes, the beat stayed in my head for days. But, come on, what self-respecting woman wouldn't be infuriated by this:

"I drive these brothers crazy, I do it on the daily, They treat me really nicely, They buy me all these ice-ys. Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi and then Donna...They say they love my ass in Seven Jeans, True Religion, I say no, but they keep givin', So I keep on takin'... I'ma get, get, get, get, you drunk, Get you love drunk off my hump."

So, basically, she has a nice ass, so she gets brand name clothing and fly jewelry. Thanks, Fergie, for participating in the destruction of womankind with that utterly deplorable message. Songs like "My Humps" have convinced everybody, even mainstream radio hosts like Don Imus, that it's truly ok to refer to women as "hos."

I used to choke back the bile in my throat when I'd walk through a store that was blaring that song while all the little girls and unthinking women bounced along to the beat happily.

But now, thank god for the courage of Alanis Morissette. She has recorded a brilliant parody of that despicable song. Please check out this video, pass it around to all your friends, and tell every girl you know that she's worth more than her ass.
