Lauren Cahn believes that the path to enlightenment begins with the simple act of reaching out and touching your toes. Formerly a corporate lawyer in New York City, working the long hours in the big firms and taking it out on cab drivers and pizza delivery boys, Lauren discovered the power of yoga to transform the body and, in spite of itself, the mind, in 2002, and has been putting her legs behind her head and writing about it ever since. When she's not "bending" on the mat, or chauffeuring her two boys around Northern Westchester, Lauren is keeping the yoga community informed and entertained with her blog, "Yoga Chickie: Chicken Soup for the Navel Gazing Soul", where she chronicles her daily Ashtanga Yoga practice (it's the one Madonna does, or did) and her love for all things fabulous. In essence, Lauren distills her own brand of spirituality. And she's always stirring that pot. Enjoy responsibly.

At 35, I had my first mammogram. It was clean as a whistle. At 36, I was diagnosed with three cancerous tumors in my right breast, two of which were larger than 2.5 centimeters. None of the three tumors were detectable by mammogram - even after I was diagnosed and...

When I first came to yoga, it was as a breast cancer survivor.

Why I Failed As an Atheist

I tried to believe in nothing. And I failed. It was simply too difficult for me to let go of a belief in God that is as innate to me as the English language.

I was born into a secular Jewish family. We observed the holidays as cultural events. The...

I don't have an eating disorder.

In my opinion, ALL diet crazes are inherently evil. Basically, I don't believe in dieting at all. I believe in eating right for your body, which includes eating no more than your body needs to maintain a healthy weight. At the age of 43, I've pretty much figured out what...
