December is usually a slow month for news. As such, it's compulsory for journalists during this month to do one of two things: either write an article summing up the main events of the year almost gone, or write a forward-looking piece about the year to come. 2011 was a great year for the LGBT community, but I think 2012 is going to be even better. Here are my LGBT predictions for 2012.
So now you know what's going to happen. All that leaves me to say is: happy new year, one and all! If you've enjoyed what I've written for The Huffington Post this year, please consider following me on Twitter. Think of it as a belated Christmas present.

We will look back at 2011 and see that the biggest boost to the LGBT community was the outspoken homophobia of the GOP presidential contenders whose blatant bigotry and animated hate speech during their campaigns have repulsed fair-minded Americans, galvanized support for our community, and created strong new allies.
I agree that this election has only one issue at stake... SCOTUS. That is it and that is enough.
I do agree that a GOP win would be a disaster for the nation considering what would happen to the Supreme Court.
(Which is not uncommon for some celebs... but to say SHE will be on Twitter...)
There are enough Dems to unseat the house and the senate if Dems get off their butts and vote.
We don't need a new president, we need a new congress.
