Who is Out of Touch Now?

So I woke up Saturday morning in New York, picked up my New York Times, and there, above the fold, was the heartwarming headline: "A Love Affair With S.U.V.'s Begins to Cool."

Two and a half years ago when we launched the Detroit Project, making the connection between our over-reliance on SUVs, our over-dependance on foreign oil and our national security, we were castigated as out of touch with the American people. Well, it turns out that we were just a little ahead of the media conventional wisdom. Here's the money quote from Danny Hakim’s piece in the Times:

With higher prices at the pump sinking in as something more than a blip on the radar, and with several new passenger car models winning back customers, America's love affair with S.U.V.'s is taking a breather.
