Tuesday's court decision favoring Al Franken in the disputed Minnesota Senate race also serves as a boon to the ongoing fight over the Employee Free Choice Act.
Compared to Burris, Mr. Franken's declared victory in the seemingly endless Minnesota senate battle has generated some cheering, for sure, but surprisingly little laughing or hilarity. And what a shame that is.

Signing anythin, "Your friend," is like hearing somebody say, "Trust me...". They ain't your friend & don't trust them. It's as bad as spin that starts with, "Frankly... or To be candid...", & similar openings. A frank & candid person never uses those words.

The letter can't actually be from Coleman, can it? I mean, it would be absolutely so stupid for a US Senator to lower him/herself to such childish rantings.
As far as seating, Al, if the senate rules allow it, and since the votes have been accepted by the Minnesota board, it is appropriate that he be formally seated. To do otherwise simply denies the million or so voters that voted for him. It also makes a joke out of the election process.
If the appeals change things, then seat Coleman. Whichever way it turns out, Minnesota must have full representation!
I have a new respect for Senator Coleman. He is very articulate and prints very well. He should be the head of the Bush transition team as the latter moves from being the worst president of all time to being the worst former president.
Presume the crumpled letter is a fraud; Coleman couldn't be that articulate, even with the f...ks included. When I taught Social Studies and had to give some football players Ds or Fs, I would get these little notes from the football coach telling me how terrible I was and how valuable sports were; it didn't identify a particular sport. Always knew who it came from because the guy couldn't spell or even put a sentence together in any fashion. They were actually quite funny because the coach really believed that sports, i.e., football, were more valuable to a student than learning anything about the world. I was new to teaching and the other teachers never would flunk a football player!
My cousin was a football player at a midwestern state university. His mother pressured my mother into getting me to write a paper for him. It became a matter of family politics, so I did it (even though I was still in high school). . Not that it was a good paper...I made sure that it would do no better than a C+, but I felt guilty about it for a long time. After 4 1/2 years in school (and playing out his eligibility, he finally gave up and admitted that he was still a sophomore and had no chance to graduate. And the school obviously didn't care a whit what happened to him when he no longer could play for them. .
He went to work in a factory and that was that. Until his 25th high school reunion when he encountered a mutual friend who reported to me later that my cousin said that football was the only good part of his life.
How can anybody think that overemphasis on sports is good for anybody?

I agree with you. The letter cannot be legitimate. I would like to see a response from the Coleman campaign.
Hey - eColi and Lance - check out the author's name at the top... the very first word after it is comedian.....

This is the sort of thing I'd expect to see on The Onion. I like The Onion.
who doesn't
Quite apart from the origin clues, the note is way too coherent for Normie.
A clever parody of a lame politician!
THAT NOTE IS FUNNY, I WONDER IF COLEMAN REALLY WROTE IT< I'D SAY TO COLEMAN, IT's TIME FOR YOU TO CONCEDE
It's satire...
It should have been written in crayon - then I would believe a republican wrote it.
FIRST COLEMAN IS BEAT BY A WRESTLER AND NOW A SNL COMEDIAN.
At least he was able to beat a dead senator last time. That's more that John Ashcroft was able to do in 2000.
So true, so true.
FIRST COLEMAN LOSES TO A WRESTLER AND NOW TO A SNL COMEDIAN !

Who could even conceive of a world where someone could actually earn a living by playing FOOTBALL. Crazy!
eh.... kind of corny.... kind of amusing.... reminds me of Fox's attempt at humor....
its only really funny when its spot on.
Well, this was pretty spot-on so I guess that makes it funny.
Actually, I found it hilarious. And if Coleman was ever going to be honest with himself and the public, it pretty much says what he would say.
Actually, this conjurs up the sort of stuff you see in The Onion
Of course it's NOT real dumb s hits....but it IS g.d. funny
